Acts 24:16 So I strive always to keep
my conscience clear before God and
man.
When we mess up we fess up.
What is a Clear Conscience?
The inner freedom from knowing that
no one can point a finger at you and
accuse you of wrongs toward him that
you have never made right.
Principles of a Clear Conscience
1. We’re not right with God when we’re
not right with people.
1 John 4:20 If anyone says, "I love
God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar.
For anyone who does not love his
brother, whom he has seen, cannot love
God, whom he has not seen.
Principles of a Clear Conscience
21
And he has given us this command:
Whoever loves God must also love his
brother.
Principles of a Clear Conscience
1 Peter 3:7 Husbands, in the same way
be considerate as you live with your
wives, and treat them with respect as
the weaker partner and as heirs with
you of the gracious gift of life, so that
nothing will hinder your prayers.

2. The past is not past until you’re
reconciled.
Reconciliation involves a statement of
forgiveness born of authentic
responsibility.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is
faithful and just and will forgive us our
sins and purify us from all
unrighteousness.

3. Reconciliation takes priority over
worship.
Matthew 5:23 Therefore, if you are
offering your gift at the altar and there
remember that your brother has
something against you,

leave your gift there in front of the
altar. First go and be reconciled to
your brother; then come and offer your
gift.

4. The initiative lies with you.
Matthew 5:23 Therefore, if you are
offering your gift at the altar and there

something against you,

leave your gift there in front of the
altar. First go and be reconciled to
your brother; then come and offer your
gift.
Principles of a Clear Conscience
Matthew 18:15 If your brother sins
against you, go and show him his fault,
just between the two of you. If he
listens to you, you have won your
brother over.
Principles of a Clear Conscience
1 Peter 4:8 Above all, love each other
deeply, because love covers over a
multitude of sins.

5. Do what you can to reconcile.
Romans 12:18 If it is possible, as far as
it depends on you, live at peace with
everyone.
Principles of a Clear Conscience
Proverbs 18:2 A fool finds no pleasure
in understanding but delights in airing
his own opinions.
