Call Flow is a Middleware Messaging System that acts as an interface/router between several front ends and
various back ends. Abstraction is based on the front-ends providing Call Flow a message as a ‘business request’.
Call Flow translates this into one or more back-end ‘service requests’. Each service request returns a data group,
which in most cases would provide a super-set of the data required. Because most back-end systems are package
based, the use of generic messages allows efficient blocking of data to an interface designed to broker. Initially,
Call Flow would broker the reply messages of the service requests to provide the specific data defined by the
business request; however, the norm is now to pass the entire backend response message onto the calling front-
end. In this way, a single back-end service request could be called by many business requests, across many
