IN-EDIT Festival, came in Greece in
2014, its first stop was Thessaloniki
and the following year it was
organized in two different editions;
Athens edition, in February and
Thessaloniki edition, in April. In
2016, while completing thirteen
years of age, IN-EDIT set off its
global journey from its hometown,
Barcelona, and before traveling for
t h e fi r s t t i m e t o I t a l y a n d
Netherlands, it stops for a few days
in Athens and Thessaloniki.
In 2003, a documentary film festival
was held for the first time in Barcelona,
screening documentaries about
important musicians and music genres,
bringing to light a neglected up to that
moment film category; the music
documentary film. Thirteen years later,
IN-EDIT, is the most important music
documentary film festival in the world.
It has been organized in more than
fifteen cities around the world, from
Mexico City to Berlin and from
Santiago de Chile to Madrid, while, at
the same time, it is considered to be a
“meeting point” for the friends of
music and cinema.
In-Edit Festival is the backstage of the
musical world. It chronicles with the
same sincerity moments of glory and
of immense tension, the missteps and
the emotions that only music can
create. It chronicles the world
character of music but also its changes
depending on the country, the region
or the language.

PROGRAMME
Oasis. Supersonic
Oasis was like a Ferrari," Liam notes in the
film. "Great to look at. Great to drive. And it'll
f***ing spin out of control every now and
again.” Supersonic documents the band's
meteoric rise to fame over a period of three
years from the council estates of Manchester
up to their career pinnacle, in one of the
biggest concerts of all time in front of
125,000 people, at Knebworth.
Mistaken for Strangers
The kid brother of Matt Berninger (The
National) signs up as roadie on a tour with
his big brother's band and films his pathetic
journey until they kick him out. This is not a
mockumentary, but a sad and comical peek
at talent, fame, the (corrupt) relationship
between siblings and between success/
failure.
The Amazing Nina Simone
Irate, alienated, pioneering and rebellious,
nobody characterized the idea of brave,
honest (and somewhat shaken) music better
than the great Nina Simone. More than 50
interviews and a boatload of archive to
illustrate one of the fundamental artists of
black music and protest.
Fonko
An ambitious voyage through Africa reveals
the new music of a surviving continent: from
cracked software in South Africa (with Afro-
futurist goals), to Ghana’s “porn gospel”,
predecessor to the crazy kuduro (“hard ass”)
dance in the Angolan ghetto. All hot, freshly
baked. And in each stanza: apartheid,
colonization and war, but also hope and
peace.
Dont Look Back
Hailed “the best music documentary of all
time”. On tour around England with Bob
Dylan in 1965 when the folk legend
ascended to the status of pop icon. Less
antisocial than usual, radiant and cool, this is
the closest to Dylan that anyone has ever
been.
Danny Says
Danny Says is a documentary on the life and
times of Danny Fields. From Phi Beta Kappa
whiz-kid to working for the Doors, Cream,
Lou Reed, Nico, Judy Collins and managing
groundbreaking artists like the Stooges, the
MC5 and the Ramones. Danny Says is a story
of marginal turning mainstream, avant garde
turning prophetic, as Fields looks to the next
generation
Leonard Cohen: Bird on a Wire
A unique vision of the singer-songwriter in
the midst of his jinxed 1972 world tour,
grappling with groupies on heat, weathering
hostility from promoters and contemplating
the meaning of everything. And the songs:
“Suzanne”, “Sisters of mercy”, “So long
Marianne”... A sage of pop music captured at
a crucial moment.
Blur: New World Towers
This isn’t the story of Blur, but it is a story of
Blur. With impeccable shots and a vast array
of resources, Sam Wrench gets the band’s
complete complicity to charter the recording
of the unexpected album The Magic Whip. In
five days. When Blur barely existed. The
magic unfolds, but not the dirty laundry.
Neat and elegant!
Janis: Little Girl Blue
O n e o f t h e m o s t l o n g - a w a i t e d
documentaries in history. Janis Joplin: from
strange small-town Texan bird to global
youth icon. The raspiest voice of the Sixties
triumphed in rock, but her personal blues
sentenced her to die young. Unique archive
footage, dazzling interviews and Cat Power
reading her letters.
The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo
Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble
The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the
Silk Road Ensemble tells the extraordinary
story of the renowned international musical
collective created by legendary cellist Yo-Yo
Ma. The feature-length documentary follows
this group of diverse instrumentalists,
vocalists, composers, arrangers, visual artists
and storytellers as they explore the power of
music to preserve tradition, shape cultural
evolution and inspire hope.
The Possibilities Are Endless
It was one of the four phrases Edwyn Collins
said after his stroke in 2005. The others were
“yes”, “no” and “Grace Maxwell”, his wife. A
film about the power of love and affection
that invites us to take a look at the inside of
the artist’s injured brain. Grace is the pillar,
the muse to Collins throughout the slow
recuperation of his identity, voice and art.
.
The Sad and Beautiful World of
Sparklehorse
The tragic tale of Mark Linkous, one of
America’s most influential cult artists. His life
was lived with intensity and beauty. He went
by the name… Sparklehorse. A musician
crippled by adversity. A man that struggled
with his demons. All he wanted was to be a
happy man

hemorrhages which resulted in aphasia, and he subsequently underwent a months-long
rehabilitation period. Collins resumed his musical career in 2007, with his 6th

Digital while he has also worked as an illustrator, television actor, television producer and record

Sister Fa
Sister Fa is considered to be among the most the most iconic representatives of Senegalese rap
scene, not only thanks to her music but also due to her activist action against female genital
mutilation. Born 1982 in Dakar, Senegal, she took her first steps in rap music in 2000, she has
been awarded multiple times in Africa and in Europe and nowadays she is considered to be one
of the most important contemporary African musicians. Sister Fa uses her growing popularity
and her music to progress her engagement and to create consciousness in social and political
themes – focussing on women’s situation in Senegal. In March 2006, she moved to Berlin,
Germany, to live with her husband, an Austrian ethnologist and documentary filmmaker. In
Berlin, she continues her social and political engagement. In Berlin, she formed a new band and
since then, Sister Fa is constantly developing her repertoire and her style. Traditional Senegalese

Το DOC ALIVE είναι μία ξεχωριστή
ενότητα του προγράμματος του
IN-EDIT.

DOC
ALIVE is a special session in IN-
EDIT’s screening schedule, where
the protagonist of the documen-
tary transcends the screen and
performs live on stage. The live
session follows the screening and
lasts about 30 minutes.

Sister
