Work Experience
Oregon State University, College of Civil and Construction Engineering. Corvallis, OR
PhD Candidate, Research and Teaching Assistant (2014)
Teaching Assistant Supervisor: Kenny Martin, PE. (541) 737-2057
- I conducted scientific engineering research on strength of materials resulting in data collec-
tion, analysis and tabulation of results. I directly taught statics to 90 engineering students
and received the highest student evaluations to date in the Department of Civil and Con-
struction Engineering.
University of Idaho, College of Civil Engineering. Moscow, ID
Engineering Researcher and National Science Foundation (NSF) Fellow (2009– 2012)
- I designed, conducted, and analyzed scientific experiments related to the use of blue green al-
gae for industrial biofuel production. I participated in the NSF GK-12 program which helps gradu-
ate level engineers effectively communicate engineering concepts to the public through incorpo-
ration of personal research into primary/secondary education.
I grew up in Norton,
Ohio and moved West
after my military ser-
vice to attend college. I
have always been
drawn to the moun-
tains of the western
states and recently
moved from Idaho to
Oregon.
You will often find me
exploring the local
mountains by bike,
backcountry skis, para-
glider, or through rock
climbing. I am happy to
live in Oregon and look
forward to creating
new experiences in the
wonderful vistas of the
Cascade Mountains.
I’ve always loved chal-
lenging work. I am a
very hard worker and a
very quick learner. I
always present myself
in a professional man-
ner and believe that I
could represent your
organization as such.
Like my engineering
peers, I have technical
knowledge/skills but
my ability to communi-
cate effectively sets me
apart from others in my
field. I am a people
person and value build-
ing relationships. With
my diverse background,
technical skills, and my
ability to relate to peo-
ple, I feel I am an excel-
lent candidate for your
EIT position.
