Improve and change projects fail largely because the theories, models and frameworks don't take into account the reality of people, working in real business, with pressures and priorities and problems. If change was easy as you think, why would the organization be in the place it is today? This is an alternative version to the presentation shown at the BCS offices in London on 9 October 2015.
A short presentation on why reality keeps on interfering with what theories, models, frameworks and best practices recommend

This is an important topic, because you are today the sum of all your past, your experiences, your failures and your successes. All your memories, your genetic material, your mistakes and your successes combine to make you exactly the person you are today. If you want to understand why you do things, you should be able to understand who you are and what is important. This is even more important if you are working with other people, if you are in a team, if you are a manager…
Stress is caused primarily by lack of control of your own destiny, the feeling that someone else is deciding what happens to you, day by day, hour by authority.
The problem is stress.
Stress is seen by many as some kind of status symbol. But stress, whatever its origin, is a physical factor, which has a serious impact on the way you live your life. Stress is a survival instinct which you cannot control, and which will get you to generate cortisol and adrenaline in order to generate a response.
These two chemicals are extremely dangerous for your health.
The impact of stress, as you find you have no way to flee or to fight means that the cortisol and adrenaline cannot escape.
This is a primary cause for heart and circulation problems, memory failure and a facilitator of cancer.
This one shows us the cumulative level of health and social problems
Another study has measured similar information regarding life-expectancy, results, happiness and health issues within the work-place. They found the same type of data. Inequality is detrimental to your organization.
Mortality and health issues are much larger at the lower levels of the hierarchy in the work place. Remember that those are the levels which are producing what your clients what: they are the ones that are delivering or developing the products or services your client is buying.
By taking away your ability to control your life, your choices, your reactions, we are taking away your health and your happiness. We are not making things easier for you, we are frustrating you and killing off the most important people in your organization: the ones who are developing or delivering the product or services which your clients want.

If people are to be productive and creative at work, they need to be happy within their job. Job satisfaction allows the creation and delivery of quality products and services. Within this book, the author uses his extensive experience to discuss some possibilities to increase job satisfaction. A key approach included is the management of the knowledge in the organization as an effective replacement to the traditional hierarchical and patriarchal approach. This book clarifies how practical knowledge management can be implemented within an organization, giving the day-to-day decision making to the people responsible for the products and services you provide your clients.
