  1. Play Y’a une pie from Comptines a Chanter 1 – give actions for responses. Une pie – poirier – j’entends … chante, chanter
  2. Questions to think about before showing video clip: How old are they? Is this their first language? How did they learn? Discussion then feedback about children learning early – they’re ready, we find it harder? Or do we?
  3. Partner A and B: Conversation without words – Hello, do you fancy a drink? Yes, good idea, okay, let’s go! Try Expressions – I’m happy – I’m angry - pull the other one mate! What strategies did you use? Did you understand each other? Show me you don’t understand without using any words. Mime being French, Japanese, Italian?
  4. How does a baby learn to say ‘Duck’? Discussion – itemise ways. What might motivate baby to learn? What might encourage baby if distracted?
  5. Anything here that’s a challenge? We’ve got the skills …
  6. Why is this date important? What is happening nationally or locally?
  7. What is happening in schools locally now? Have you seen any foreign languages being taught? When? What? Who by?
  8. Spanish numbers – with actions, respond to number, respond to signal, tennis, action pairs, diff voices – show faces under the visualiser, maths with minus numbers, own ideas?
