How will SAP Hana Cloud Platform support your digital transformation. How to leverage reusable compnent (iot, mobile, analytics) to bring innovation to your business model.
3. TheSecondMachineAge … the beginning of our exponential digital transformation
If a chessboard were to have wheat placed upon each square such that one grain
were placed on the first square, two on the second, four on the third, and so on
(doubling the number of grains on each subsequent square), how many grains of
wheat would be on the chessboard at the finish? - 18,446,744,073,709,551,615
Moore’s 1965 paper described a doubling every year in the number of components
per integrated circuit,[2] and projected this rate of growth would continue for at least
another decade. In 1975, looking forward to the next decade, he revised the forecast
to doubling every two years.
“In January 2017, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich declared that "I've heard the death of
Moore's law more times than anything else in my career," Krzanich said. "And I'm
here today to really show you and tell you that Moore's Law is alive and well and
flourishing”
The spread of Moore’s law : not just for computer anymore
playstation, iot, ipad, cars, … … with speakers, sensors, microphone, …
(Ipad 2 1000 €2011 = Cray-2 1985 35Mio€)
Digital Componants – device, algorithme, software, are not rival and easily
reproductible
The true work of innovation is not coming up with something big and new but
instead recombining thing that already exists – the best way to accelerate progress is
to increase our capacity to test new combination of idea

As companies undergo digital transformation, they evolve into being more of a software and app driven business because they can connect people, things and businesses together with the latest technology available to them.
According to Gartner Research, bimodal is the practice of managing two separate but coherent styles of work: one focused on predictability; the other on exploration. Mode 1 is optimized for areas that are more predictable and well-understood. It focuses on exploiting what is known, while renovating the legacy environment into a state that is fit for a digital world. Mode 2 is exploratory, experimenting to solve new problems and optimized for areas of uncertainty. These initiatives often begin with a hypothesis that is tested and adapted during a process involving short iterations, potentially adopting a minimum viable product (MVP) approach. Both modes are essential to create substantial value and drive significant organizational change, and neither is static. Marrying a more predictable evolution of products and technologies (Mode 1) with the new and innovative (Mode 2) is the essence of an enterprise bimodal capability. Both play an essential role in the digital transformation.
