Dear Professor Bivona-Tellez:
As a soon-to-be graduate of Azusa Pacific University with a Bachelor of Nursing as well as a
native Spanish speaker, I believe I would be an invaluable asset as a registered nurse in the
Pediatrics Department at Kaiser Fontana. During July and August 2016, I was given the
opportunity to do my pediatrics clinical rotation in the Pediatrics Department at Kaiser Fontana
and fell in love with the unit. Having over ten years experience taking care of and tutoring
children, I was able to use those skills to improve the lives and health of the young patients I
took care of during that rotation.
Not only do I have experience working with children but I also have excelled academically. I
have a 3.8 GPA as well being a member in Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor
Society. Besides academics, in July 2012 I was able to provide medical relief to a small rural
community in Honduras with Global Medical Brigades. We developed health initiatives and
hosted a medical and dental clinic for 3 days. We were able to see more than 300 patients each
day and I was able to learn the basics of triage and how to take vital signs as well as give public
health workshops and provide Spanish translation to the other volunteers.
I look forward to getting to meet you in person and elaborate more on my passion, qualifications,
and why I would make an excellent registered nurse in your unit. Please feel free to contact me if
you have any questions or would like a list of references. My cell phone number is: (XXX)
XXX-XXX and my email address is PMartinez14@apu.edu. Thank you for your time and hope
to hear from you soon!
Sincerely,
Priscilla Martinez
