11. § Many European economies,
including UK are as effective as
US in creating new businesses
§ Not enough of them grow –
displacing older firms
§ This lack of ‘scale up’ means
the economy as a whole loses
on productivity and growth.

I want to motivate our pupils
with real life examples of people
in the workforce. Many of our
children have a very limited
understanding of the workplace
and what is available in the
world of work. I want to widen
their thinking and use these
businesses to inspire them.

”
We looked at all lessons being delivered in our computing science classrooms and
incorporated many of the Education Scotland gender resources for computer science into
the curriculum. We invited four female business leaders via Founders4Schools and made
no apologies for only inviting our S1 girls to this event to hear from these strong female
role models. We recently repeated this encounter as part of Ada Lovelace day. As a result
of this positive discrimination I am very proud that the number of girls studying computer
science in Stirling High has risen from 24% to 46% in the last year. One of our speakers
from that first encounter.

in the digital space – the natural
