4. To mark International day
of the girl we told the heart
rendering story of 19 year
old Alem. A strong, proud
and ambitious young
woman who refused to
accept the status quo.
Read Mark Chamberlain‟s

edge of Biera‟.
5. “My customers come for portrait
pictures and with their family and
friends in my studio.
Also people ask me to take
pictures outside their homes and
workplaces. I charge more for
this type of work.”
Last year Frewoini got a new
camera to replace her
original camera that had finally
died. So after a break without a
camera she is able to work
again.
Give your old camera a brand
new life and make a difference-
be a part of it!

8. “It is important to have
photographs of your friends and
family- it is a way of keeping
people in your heart.
I don‟t have photos of my family
who died in the genocide so I
have no way of remembering
them.”

9. “I realised how useful
my training was when I
visited Progressio
programmes in
Zimbabwe and took
much better, more
engaging photographs
than I had before. I‟ve
also got more
confidence to work
with photography
professionals to get
the images we need.”
Daniel Hale,
Progressio, UK
Following on from our digital story-telling training with Progressio Peru, we
ran photography training with their staff based in London. The Progressio
photographers were soon travelling to East Timor and Zimbabwe to collect
digital stories.
11. ‘The Silenced: Fighting for Press Freedom in Mexico’
PROEXPOSURE is proud to host the website of CAFOD‟s
photography exhibition in collaboration with The Guardian and
the Committee to Protect Journalists on World Press Freedom
Day to commemorate reporters in Mexico who have lost their
lives in the pursuit of truth.
„The Silenced‟ is a growing group of journalists and media
professionals who have been killed for reporting the reality of the
country‟s drugs cartels and their power networks, or have been
caught in the cross-fire of drug violence.
