Rainforests in the tropics are places
where it rains every day.
These areas are covered with
thick, lush forests called tropical
forest

3. TEMPERATURE AND RAINFALL
Temperature: hot and wet during all
the year.
It rains 4,000 mm a year. The hot
climate makes the water evaporate
quickly.
Inside the rainforest it is dark and
damp.

4. Rainforest people
The people who live here survive by
hunting animals and collecting
plants.

5. THE PEOPLE
 They have moved to these areas for
commercial reasons. They chop down
trees and burn them in order to clear land.
 Many trees have disappeared and this
affects the natural habitat, plants and
animals died because of that.

7. ANIMALS
 Around 40% to 75% of all biotic species
are in the rainforest. It has been estimated
that there may be many millions of
species of plants, insects that haven’t
been discovered yet.
 Many animals live in branches of
trees, such as monkeys. Due to the
destruction of their habitats some animals
and plants have died out.

10. THE IMPACT IN THE WORLD
 Rainforests are also responsible for 28% of the
world’s oxygen through carbon dioxide and
consuming it through respiration.
 The disappearance of so many trees affects the
balance of gasses in the atmosphere. This may
cause an increase of global warming.

11. Conclusion
To finish with our presentation we
want to point out that we have to
protect these areas because they
are the “lungs” of our planet.
Trees let out oxygen that is
fundamental for all living
creatures.
