Response one PHB-06 The diabetes prevention program is great for individuals who are struggling with being overweight or obese and who are prediabetic. The program is designed to help prevent type 2 diabetes. They will work with a trained professional for one year to better their lifestyle. They will focus on learning to eat a healthier diet and incorporate exercise into their daily routine. An alternative strategy I suggest for this program, is to shorten it by 6 months. The purpose of the program is not only to prevent diabetes in overweight adults, but to change their lifestyle. I think 6 months is an adequate time to do that. I think one year may be too long and as a result, individuals will give up or not be completely devoted to the program. I also think that group sessions would increase the success rate in this program. I believe that exercising or eating healthy with another person, motivates that person even more. I think that group exercises and support groups could motivate people more. With any weight loss or dietary program, comes fear of losing participants. It will be difficult for people to understand that this program is not just a fad diet, but a new lifestyle. Not monitoring the success of the participants could lead to them not following the program. The participants should be checking in with their trained professional every week to talk about the progress they have made or to improve certain aspects of the program, such as diet. I think a possible problem that I would encounter when implementing my suggestion would be the group sessions and activities. It certainly helps people to be exercising and eating healthy with others, but for some it may be uncomfortable. Seeing that the program includes group classes may steer people away from it. For the people who feel uncomfortable with exercising or talking in front of others, one on one sessions can be added. This will ensure the participant that their information is confidential and will only be displayed to the trained professional helping them. Response two PHB-06 Monitoring the Progress of Program Implementation COLLAPSE Top of Form The public health issue I have chosen for my project is diabetes and the program I have selected is the National Diabetes Educational Program (NDEP). This program is very detailed and covers a lot of grounds. Most importantly, it offers a lot of resources such as personnel, booklets, CDs, workshops, etc. However, an important component to the treatment and prevention of diabetes is diet. Research shows that by increasing the intake of vegetables and fruits, an individual decreases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and it can help with the treatment of type 2 diabetes (Bryce et al., 2017). In order to bring the program down to the local level, the alternative strategy I suggested is a partnership with local farmer’s markets so that health care providers can “prescribe” fruits and vegetables. Food calorie and nutrition measurement system is very beneficial for dieticians and patients to measure and manage their daily food intake. We also know that it’s difficult to find an affordable nutritionist or a dietician across the street; therefore, we have proposed a system – DIET AND NUTRITION EXPERT SYSTEM. The proposed system is a responsive android application which contains the knowledge and data regarding the fitness of a person and nutrition content values. This application consists of the user interface which will be publicly displayed on the application i.e. the basic information regarding the fitness and nutrition values such as how to maintain good health by adapting healthy eating habits which includes the intake of calories, proteins and carbohydrates etc. in proper proportion. A dietician consults a person based on his schedule, body type, height and weight. The system too asks all this data from the user and processes it. It asks about how many hours the user works, his height, weight, age etc. The system stores and processes this data and then calculates the nutrient value needed to fill up users’ needs.

Rather, it is to provide authentic input and meaningful practice to help learners develop a series of transferable skills, targeted in the ACTFL five “C” goal areas, which enable them to apply their language skills beyond instructional settings and according to a variety of situational needs. In this session, presenters will demonstrate how to establish an authentic and meaningful instructional setting (curriculum design, lesson plan, instructional activities, and materials) that is tightly connected to the ACTFL five “C” goals, in which learners improve their language skills (oral proficiency and literacy), applicable in real-life situations or workplaces. Thoracotomy is the surgical procedure with an incision made to access the pleural space and the contents of the thoracic cavity. Given the structures to be accessed with in the cavity, different incisions have been established to easy the procedure and these incisions qualify the types of thoracotomies to be studied hereunder. PRE OP OPTIMIZATION FOR SPECIFIC FACTORS The outcome of surgical procedures is not measured only by clinical end points but also shorter stays and lower costs. Patients’ discharge is delayed commonly due to inadequate pain relief, infection, arrhythmias, prolonged air leak and debility. Many complications that occur from thoracic operations can be anticipated. An aggressive preoperative work up mitigates morbidity and shortens convalescence. APPROACH CONSIDERATIONS There are about three principles that can guides the choice of the thoracotomy incision to be used I. Adequate exposure must be achieved. The choice of incision is aided by a thorough understanding of the surface anatomy and a comprehensive review of the radiographic images that are obtained preoperatively. II. Chest-wall function and appearance should be preserved to the extent possible. This principle include non-spreading video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) procedures, muscle-sparing techniques, avoidance of excessive rib retraction, and rib preservation when possible. III. The third principle is that closure must be meticulous and appropriate. Strict layered closure is the rule for thoracic surgical incisions. Every effort should be made to approximate the individual divided chest-wall muscles in appropriate layers; otherwise, a significant delay in the recovery of range of motion (ROM) may result. Care must be taken to avoid over approximating the ribs and to prevent an override; this will help minimize postoperative pain. POST-OPERATIVE CARE AND MONITORING
