Use case: Supporting the mobility of humans by the mobility of data
Linkage and integration of data coming from a vast
number of different sources, e.g. map data, vehicle
data, weather data, mobility service descriptions or
events information. These data sets come from
various stakeholders and organizations and they
often have proprietary data structures
Goal is to significantly improve the data mobility
between all stakeholders by providing a
standardized vocabulary using Semantic Web
technologies and ontologies
MobiVoc is a project of ITA (Automotive Service
Association) in cooperation with partners like BMW,
Microsoft, Accenture, Fraunhofer

Challenge: Technical limitations to communication
• Many potential users
• Functional, even with limited number of usersScalability
• Mobility of the deceives wireless technologies
• Coverage of solitary hotspots is often not sufficientAvailability
• Requirements per user low (exception: video streaming)
• However: In total high data volume due to numerous usersBandwidth
• Many use cases in an uncritical range: > 500 ms
• Cooperative driver assistance: < 100 ms
• Platooning: < 40 ms
Latency

Comparison of technologies
ETSI ITS G5 LTE / 5G
• Local communication
• Low latency
• Special hardware for vehicles and
infrastructure required
• No cost for usage
• Widely used technology
• Seamless networking is easy
• Coverage of a large area
• High latency, especially compared to ETSI
ITS G5
• Cost of usage dictated by telecommunication
provider
• Dependent on infrastructure development
