Established in 2010 to provide gymnastic resources to the people of Grand Rapids, Michigan and beyond, R-Athletics combines cutting edge athletic facilities with amenities like televisions, a coffee bar, and a place for families to watch their loved ones practice. Though the company began in a down economy, founder Rachel Rydbeck believed her innovative business model would draw customers looking for an experience distinct from the traditional gym. When R-Athletics first opened, it drew thirty people pursuing the sport of gymnastics, but by September 2012, that number had grown to over 600.
