• Urban challenges increasing in importance
• Empowered cities and an integrated approach needed
• Integrated strategies and projects are at the heart of next
programming period - 5% ERDF requirement, CLLD etc.
• RFSC can have a key role in the creation and checking of
these strategies and projects
• A desire for greater dissemination – RFSC can be the
common language (but a growing community is needed!)

3. Future Vision
• A more visible, flexible, relevant tool - Commission
proposal is to include RFSC under URBACT III
• Clear Benefits – enhanced dissemination, stability, visibility
• Commission will financially strengthen future URBACT
• Increased synergies: RFSC > URBACT > Urban
Development Network > wider Urban Agenda
• Work towards a more user-friendly, flexible tool – we need
your views!
