2. Why forests called our lifeline?
Why forests are called Our Lifeline?
Forests are called our lifeline because Forests provide us
with fresh air to breathe, food, medicines, and other
resources like wood fodder and other raw materials for
the industries. Forests also prevent soil erosion and hold
the earth firmly. It also give oxygen.
3. How Many types of product
we get from forests?
Forests produce can be categorized into three types
are :-
• Timber
• Non Timber
• Minor Minerals
4. Food Product Produce From Forest
Some Common product that we get from forests
are:-
• Honey
• Fruit
• Mushroom
• Palm wine
• Palm oil
• Wood Raw Materials
• Paper, Paperboard and wood pulps
• Bamboo
• Rubber
• Matchsticks
5. Why Forests Called
Shelter ?
Forest is a habitat for many plants and animals because it
provides a suitable environment for them. For example,
neem, Sheesham, Palash, tiger, porcupine, elephants,
jackal etc. The ground beneath the tree of the forest is
the forest floor. It consists of a root, soil, decomposers
and decomposing organic matter.
6. What is Crown?
The crown of a plant refers to
the total of an individual plant's
aboveground parts, including
stems, leaves, and
reproductive structures. ... The
crown of a woody plant (tree,
shrub, liana) is the branches,
leaves, and reproductive
structures extending from the
trunk or main stems.
7. Rainforests Layer
Rainforests are structured in four layers:
Emergent Layer: The emergent layer is the name
given to the tops of trees that poke up above the
rainforest canopy. It is very sunny here and only
the strongest and tallest plants reach this level. ...
The strong winds help to disperse the seeds from
the tallest trees to other parts of the forest. -
Canopy:- The canopy layer – this layer is when the upper crowns
of the taller trees in a forest meet and form a thick layer over the
forest. The emergent layer – this layer is composed of the tallest
trees whose crowns emerge over the canopy layer.
8. Understoreys :- The understory is the underlying layer of
vegetation in a forest or wooded area, especially the trees
and shrubs growing between the forest canopy and the forest
floor. Plants in the understory comprise an assortment of
seedlings and saplings of canopy trees together with
specialist understory shrubs and herbs
Forests floor :- the ground beneath the
trees of a forest, consisting of roots, soil, and
decomposing organic matter.
9. Interrelationship of plant, soil and
decomposers in a forest
Plants derive water and minerals from the soil. ... In a
forest, decomposers break down fallen leaves and
branches into materials that are useful to plants. They
break down the dead organisms to release the nutrients
in them into the soil. The role of decomposers in a forest
is vital in providing nutrients to the plants.
10. Food Chain
A food chain explains which organism eats
another organism in the environment. The
food chain is a linear sequence of organisms
where nutrients and energy is transferred
from one organism to the other. This occurs
when one organism consumes another
organism
11. Food Web
A food web consists of all the food chains in a single
ecosystem. Each living thing in an ecosystem is part
of multiple food chains. ... All of the interconnected
and overlapping food chains in an ecosystem make
up a food web. Trophic Levels. Organisms in food
webs are grouped into categories called trophic
levels.
12. Why Earth Called The
Green Lungs
Plants release oxygen through the process of
photosynthesis which helps the animals for respiration.
They also maintain the balance of oxygen and carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere. That is why the forests are
called green lungs.
13. Deforestat
ion
Deforestation is the purposeful clearing of forested land.
Throughout history and into modern times, forests have been
razed to make space for agriculture and animal grazing, and to
obtain wood for fuel, manufacturing, and construction.
Deforestation has greatly altered
14. What are the ways we
prevent forests
Some ways by which you can prevent deforestation
Plant a Tree where you can.
Go paperless at home and in the office.
Buy recycled products and then recycle them again.
Buy certified wood products. Read the labels and look for
the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) mark.
Support the products of companies that are committed to
reducing deforestation. It’s all about business. If you don’t
buy, they will be encouraged to improve their practices.
Raise awareness in your circle and in your community.
Buy only what you will use.
Don’t use Palm Oil or products with Palm Oil
15. What Happen Forests
Disappear
1. If forests disappear, the amount of carbon dioxide in air
will increase, resulting in the increase of earth's
temperature.
2. In the absence of trees and plants, the animals will not
get food and shelter.
3. In the absence of trees, the soil will not hold water,
which will cause floods.
Forest can’t exist, Life
can’t exist
16. How Forests prevent Flood
Forests can soak up excess rainwater,
preventing run-offs and damage from
flooding. By releasing water in the dry
season, forests can also help provide
clean water and mitigate the effects of
droughts.
“Safe tree Safe Life”
17. How Forests Prevent Soil Erosion
Forests are rich in vegetation. Herbs, shrubs,
and trees in the forests hold the topmost layer
firmly by their roots. This does not allow
natural forces like wind and water to carry
away the topmost fertile layer of the soil
easily. Hence, forests prevent soil erosion.
18. From Previous Slide I hope you
understand how much forests do for us
And Now it’s our time to become active
human. We need to save forests aware
people about afforestation and prevent
deforestation.
