 LOCATION :- Shadipur depot area, Delhi, India.
 TOTAL AREA :- 5.2 hectare [52000 sqm]
-- 60% of area (31200 sqm) – For redevelopment of colony.
-- 40% of area (20800 sqm) – Rehaja developer to built their own
commercial and residential BUILDINGS.
 Almost 40 year of slum.
 Largest slum of delhi.
 15 mins away from Sansadh Bhavan.
 TYPE OF PEOPLE :- Puppeters, magicians, folk singer, dancers and storey
tellers, etc
 NO. OF FAMILIES :- 2800
HISTORY
1960 A travelling Banjara tribe settles
at the edge of the city to famine
& increase in demand in their
art & craft.

The First Ngo – ‘Bhule Bisre
Kalakar’ establihed by Rajiv
Sethi with a dream towards
their negligible result & the
colony continues to grow by
iteself.

A low rise settlement proposal
design by Ar. Revathi Kamath -
‘ANANDGRAM’ approved. The project
was meant to rehabilitate the 600
families living at kathputali. It was
never impemented due to lake of
political will
Delhi Development Authority –
DDA sells the land to the
developers for a minimum
amount. The deveopers are
required to rehabilitate the
families on the site under PPP
(Public Private Partnership).
Conflict between DDA & the

treatments and proper ventilation

OVERVIEW
• In 2004, DDA ran a scheme to redevelop the slum and provide
houses with hygienic conditions.
• In 2008, tenders were invited.
• In 2009, kathputli colony was solded by DDA to Rehaja
developers in 6 crores.
• Under the scheme, re-settlement will be done on the land
occupied by JJ (jhuggi-jhonpri) clusters with private
partnership.
OVERVIEW
• The 2800 families of kathputli shall be given on lease of life by providing
them the latest modern apartments with full facilities.
• Each apartment shall be over 30 Sqm in size.
• Till the time these structures are built on kathputli colony residents shall
be rehabilitated in a Transit camp facility at Anand Parbat barely, 1.8kms
away from the site
• Till the time these structures are built on kathputli colony residents shall
be rehabilitated in a Transit camp facility at Anand Parbat barely, 1.8kms
away from the site.
• This shall be only for 2-3 yr by which the time building is ready.
• From 2009 after 7 yrs ,DDA started vacanting the area.

REASONS
• DDA is not ready to give this in writting.
• No employment was available near the transit
camp.
• According to people, facilites were not
provided in the Transit Camp.
• They do not trust DDA.
CONCLUSION
• Hygienic living – sloving issues
with cleanliness, toi. Facilities,
water and waste management.
• Better Infrastructure- providing
central amenities like large
green parks, regional structure,
parking, shops, medical centre,
schools ,etc.
• Entrepreneurial Assistance-
providing better platform to
perform which help them earn.
• Socio-economic uplifts- schools
and community area will help
uplift the society.
