4. Explain some successes and challenges you have had. My main challenge has been getting other interested educators to join my group. The invite a friend feature is great except that not everyone you invite joins. I have used my Twitter to invite my followers with limited success. I feel that if one already had celebrity like Shaq or Bono Twitter would be useful and as publicity and to communicate with large numbers of people. I feel that the technology itself is fairly easy to use and negotiate. What is a challenge- especially for shared bookmarks and Twitter is the lack of time in a teacher’s day. So much good information is piped at you that you can’t check it all out and I can only scratch the surface with much of what I can explore.
5. What is your take on Moodle and online learning? I love Moodle! I believe that the site Rich set up for us is a great example of how a learner can be self directed and still have access to valuable multi media content. Depending upon the learning style of the student online learning may or may not be best. An immature learner will be hard pressed to maintain the discipline needed to be successful in this environment. For Digital natives the online learning is natural and enjoyable. We use Moodle in my class of 5 th graders and they are usually very motivated to work on the Moodle site or with computers. This is true even when the task is something that they normally would groan about.
