3. WHAT IS AUGMENTED REALITY
Augmented Reality (AR)
The term was proposed by TOM CAUDELL, a researcher of
Boeing corporation ,in 1990.RONALD AZUMA in 1997 defined the
augmented reality as:
1. Interaction in real time.
2. Combination of virtual and real.
3. Works in 3D.
4. WHAT IS AUGMENTED REALITY
Augment Reality (AR) is a
field of computer research
which deals with the
combination of real world
and computer generated
data.
Most of the AR research is
currently concerned with
the use of video imagery
which is digitally processed
and augmented by adding
computer generated
graphics.
5.
6. AUGMENTED REALITY WOW-NOW
(AR) is a term for a live
Direct or indirect view
of a physical real world
environment .
The augmentation is on
conventionally in real
time and in semantic
content with
environmental elements
(Wikipedia).
7. HOW DOES AR WORK ??
o The Basic idea of
augmented reality is to
super impose graphics,
audio and other sense
enhancemenents over a real
world environment in real
time .
o The Graphics will then
change to accommodate in
real – time.
o The graphics will then
accommodate to the user‘s
eye or head movements.
8. AR vs VR
Augmented Reality
Augmented reality is closer to
the real world. augmented
reality adds graphics, sounds to
the natural world, as it exists.
That is ,the user can interact with
the real world, and at the same
time can see, both the real and
virtual world co-existing.
User is not cut off from the
reality.
Virtual Reality
Virtual reality creates immersive,
computer generated
environments which replaces
real world.
Virtual reality serves for at
totally immersive environment .
The senses are under control of
the system.
The user is completely immersed
is an artificial world and cut off
from real world.
9. GOALS OF AUGMENTED REALITY
o The goal of
Augmented reality is
to create a system in
which the user
cannot tell the
difference between
the real world and
the virtual
augmentation of it.
14. Advantages
Anyone can use it.
User can interact real world and
virtual world at the same time.
It enhance mobile usability.
Can save time and efforts.
15. Disadvantage
The size of AR systems is yet
another problem.
Still under development.
No privacy.
Social Acceptance.
Can also be used by Terrorist to
find locations or other use.
