PPT ON 33/11KV SUBSTATION

  1. 1. A PRESENTATION ON SUMMER TRAINING FROM SHIRBHAVI, SANGOLA 33/11 KV SUB-STATION PRESENTED BY: PHADTARE RAVI DATTATRYA ROLL NO.- 21 SUBMITTED TO : MR.PATIL J. B ( PROF. EE DEPT)
  2. 2. CONTENTS:  SUBSTATIONS  BUSBAR  TRANSFORMER CURRENTTRANSFORMER POTENTIALTRANSFORMER DISTRUBUTIONTRANSFORMER  INSULATORS  PROTECTIVERELAY  CIRCUITBREAKER  CAPACITORBANK  METERING AND INDICATING INSTRUMENT  LIGHTENING ARRESTORS  LINE ISOLATOR  SINGLELINEDIAGRAM
  3. 3.  SUBSTATION A Station is a subsidiary station of an electricity generation, transmission,& distribution system where voltage is transformed to high to low or the reverse using transformers. A substation generally have switching, protection, & control equipment & one or more transformers.  CONSTRUCTIONAL FEATURESOF 33/11KV SHIRBHAVISANGOLA, In this substation the power is coming from two lines namely 440V SHIRBHAVI
  4. 4.  33/11 KV Yard
  5. 5.  BUS BAR  A Bus bar is a conducting bar that carries heavy currents to supply several electric circuits.  Bus bar is made from ‘Cu’ and ‘Al’. TYPES OF BUS BAR-  Main Bus Bar  Auxiliary Bus Bar  One Bus Bar is Main Bus Bar and another is Auxiliary Bus Bar.
  6. 6.  TRANSFORMER  A Transformer is a static device that transfers Electrical energy from one Electrical circuit to another Electrical circuit by means of a common Magnetic Circuit. TRANSFORMER USED IN GSS  DISTRIBUTION X-MER  C.T.  P.T.
  7. 7. ding )  DISTRUBUTIONTRANSFORMER  To step-down the voltage and transfer power from one A.C voltage to another A.C Voltage at same frequency. MAIN PARTS OFPOWER TRANSFORMER- Winding(H.V winding , I.V winding) Core  Tap changer Conservator Tank  Buchholz Relay  Dehydrating Breather Oil Temperature Indicator
  8. 8.  CURRENT TRANSFORMER  Current Transformer:- A C.Tis used to step down current for measurement, control and protection.  Current Transformer is an instrument transformer used to protection & Metering of high values of current.
  9. 9.  POTENTIAL TRANSFORMER  Potential Transformer:- Potential Transformer are Instrument Transformer. A P.T is used to step down voltage for measurement, control and protection.
  10. 10.  INSULATORS  transmission lines, In order to avoid current leakage to the Earth,  through the supporting structure provide to the conductor of overhead insulators are used.
  11. 11.  PROTECTIVE RELAYS  A protective relay is a device that detects the fault and initiates the operation of the C.B. to isolate the defective element from the rest of the system  The relay detects the abnormal condition in the electrical circuit by constantly measuring the electrical quantities, which are different under normal and fault conditions.
  12. 12.  There are several metering and indicating Instrument (e.g. Ammeters, Voltmeters, energy meter, etc.) installed in a Substation to maintain which over the circuit quantities.  The instrument transformers are invariably used with them for satisfactory operation.  Metering and Indicating Instruments
  13. 13.  CIRCUIT BREAKER  A Circuit Breaker is an automatically or manually operated electrical switch designed to protect an electrical circuit from damage caused by overload or short circuit. TYPES OF CIRCUIT BREAKER- which is used in 33/11kv substation  oil circuit breaker
  14. 14.  Capacitor banks are used to improve the quality of the electrical supply and the efficient operation of the power system.  Studies show that a flat voltage profile on the system can significantly reduce line losses.  CAPACITOR BANK
  15. 15.  ISOLATING SWITCH  In Sub-Station, it is often desired to disconnect a part of the system for general maintenance and repairs. This is accomplished by an isolating switch or isolator  isolator Switches are operate only when the line is which they are connected carry no load.
  16. 16.  LIGHTENING ARRESTORS  Lightening arrestors with earth switch lightening arrestors after the current transformer are used so as to protect it from lightening i.e. from high voltage entering into it.  This lightening arrestor has an earth switch, which can directly earth the lightening.  lightening. The arrestor works at 30° to 45° angel of the lightening making a cone
  17. 17.  LINE ISOLATOR  The line isolators are used to isolate the high voltage flow through the line into the bus. This isolator prevents the instruments to get damaged  It also allows the only need of voltage and rest is earthed by itself  Insulators are used in electrical equipment to support and separate electrical conductors without allowing current through themselves.
