It’s been a really exciting six months and I
have learned so much about a variety of
areas. I’ve had a chance to work on range of
creative projects, including print media,
photography, video, and digital and social
media. My photographs have appeared in
newspapers, on websites and in the
newsletter – all of this is a great way to build
up my portfolio.

“This experience has given me a real insight into how an office works on a day-to-
day basis. I’ve had a chance to work with other people, to sit in on meetings, to
contribute ideas and to work as part of a team. I’ve also had the opportunity to
work independently on projects.
“I’ve discovered more about myself – about what I like doing and the skills that
come more naturally than others: all of which will help me in my future career
choices.
“There’s also been an opportunity to visit other schools in the partnership, which
means that no two days are ever the same and this has helped me to fully
understand the breadth of activity across the ATLP.
“I’ve also been welcomed and supported by the ATLP. They’ve helped me to
develop my skills and to grow in confidence and experience. They valued my
input and made me feel comfortable in a work place setting.
I would definitely recommend
an internship to anybody who would like to
get their first taste of working in the media.
You get the chance to contribute, to learn
more about yourself and the media and you
gain valuable work experience in a widely
respected organisation that you can take
with you on your next move and for the rest
of your life.”

Cook quickly segued into the dispute with the FBI over that iPhone:

The Apple rumor sites are pretty much in agreement: today's press event
should be all about how small (or at least a smaller iPhone and iPad) is the new
big. The other tip: Some new Watch bands.
Worth holding your breath? Maybe, maybe not. But I'll be listening to what Apple
might say about privacy, since — coincidentally? — this event was scheduled for
one day before the company argues in court against an order that it help the FBI

bypass security on that iPhone.
There's slim chance Tim Cook will open up, since being provocative the day
before you face a judge is probably not a good idea. But it's not as if Apple hasn't
been afraid to play hard ball, or that the dispute hasn't hasn't been argued in the
public square for the past few weeks.
My dream scenario: Apple uses today's event to disclose a patch or iOS update
which makes it impossible for the company's engineers to defeat the level of
security chosen by an iPhone's owner, even if wanted to. Or goes public with
reported efforts to remove itself from the iCloud security equation.
It would even be nice if Cook makes the obvious point that software encryption at
the app level is where this cat-and-mouses game will be played, sooner than later.
And good luck going after developers in Bulgaria or even Canada.
Anyway, the even kicks off at 10 am PT (1 pm PT).
