 Main focus is increasing access to, coverage
of and uptake of TB and HIV&AIDS
services in East Central Uganda
 Bantwana Initiative of World Education is
in charge of strengthening the capacity of
partners, referrals and networking

Context to Organizational capacity
The selected organizations were taken through
Organizational capacity assessment(OCA) Looking at 7
domains; Governance, Management systems,
Sustainability, information systems, performance
management and service delivery
CSOs were supported to develop capacity building
strategies
STAR-EC support ed 3 prequalified CSOs and other
5CBOs through a competitive granting mechanism

Limited information sharing- exchange
visits and dialogue sessions were used to
resolve the this challenge
Limited sources of funding- Organizations
have been supported to write and submit
proposals for funding from other donors-
some organisations have improved on
their IGAs

Lessons Learned
 Organizations are more responsive to
interventions if addressed individually through
mentorship
 If well facilitated CSOs have the capacity to
effectively deliver services in hard-to-reach areas
 If well coordinated CSOs will work to
complement services rather than look at each
other as competitors

What to gain from the model
 Using a multipronged approach to capacity
building ensures ownership of capacity building
interventions through a participatory process
 The multi -pronged approach to capacity building
will help implementers tailor the best
interventions to individual organization since
“NO ONE SIZE FITS ALL”
