Final
When analyzing how an interview in my chosen profession in Psychology should be, the
context and situation influences the interview process, (Argosy 2009). The interviewer must
put some forethought into how an interview will meet the expectations that the interviewee
expects, (Argosy 2009). The interviewer not only must meet the interviewee’s physical
needs but also must be flexible to meet the demands of an ever-changing professional
environment, (Argosy 2009).
Considering the purpose of an interview whether it is with a client, an applicant, or a
student, will place the interview in context, (Argosy 2009) because interviewers as well as
interviewees can experience a wide range of emotions, (Argosy 2009).
The place for an interview ideally should have appropriate space, light, and
comfortable places. Although places where interviews are held can be quite diverse,
we’re talking about the ideal situation, (Argosy 2009). If space is restricted or if the
interviewee feels disrespected or uncomfortable, an interview can always be rescheduled,
(Argosy 2009).
The time and setting of an interview can have an impact on the outcome of the
interview, (Argosy 2009). The time of day when it is best for an interviewer may not be
the same for an interviewee, (Argosy 2009). Also, the day of the week can have an
impact on an interview. A middle of the weekday may be better than a Monday morning,
(Argosy 2009). Cultural traditions and holidays should also be considered, (Argosy
2009). Preparation ahead of time will lessen the pressure of an interview for the
interviewer and the interviewee, (Argosy 2009).

Final
A setting for an interview should be confidence building, not distracting nor display
any bias, (Argosy 2009). A setting should look professional, not messy or distracting,
(Argosy 2009). When resources are available, a setting should be welcoming, inviting,
and private, (Argosy 2009).
