Invented	by	Rod	King,	the	House	of	Goals	&	Strategy	(HoGS)	Tool	is	designed	for	use	by	people	who	want	to	visually	and	
rapidly	summarize,	on	a	single	page,	the	content	of	any	plan.	Users	include	business	coaches/consultants;	business/
strategic/project	planners;	brand/project/product	managers;	entrepreneurs;	leaders;	startups;	established	organizaLons.	
WHY	
In	today’s	fast-moving	environment,	a	voluminous	tradiLonal	business/strategic	plan	o`en	becomes	irrelevant	no	sooner	
than	it	is	published.	Moreover,	the	tradiLonal	plan	is	rigid	and	difficult	to	update	as	its	original	assumpLons	are	
invalidated	or	unforeseen	situaLons	emerge.	To	survive	and	prosper	in	today’s	turbulent	environment,	every	plan	or	
blueprint	must	be	simple,	modular,	adapLve,	brief,	and	acLonable.	The	HoGS	tool	saLsfies	all	of	these	desirable	criteria.	
WHAT	
The	HoGS	is	a	visual	tool	that	describes	a	project’s	vision	and	how	to	achieve	it.	A	HoGS	summarizes	the	who,	why,	
what,	and	how	of	a	project.	As	a	building	structure,	a	HoGS	can	be	described	as	a	house	that	consists	of	5	elements:	a	
foundaLon	and	three	pillars	(columns)	that	support	a	roof.	Outside	the	HoGS	is	a	cloud	for	recording	impact,	result,	or	
value.	SomeLmes,	a	problem	statement	is	recorded	outside	the	HoGS	to	which	the	vision	responds	as	a	soluLon.
