2. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
Sept 2016 – Present Sellafield Ltd (RAP Project)
Package Manager
Sellafield has an analytical services laboratory (ASL), which is over 60 years old and is in terminal decline.
The Replacement Analytical Project (RAP) is the refurbishment of the National Nuclear Laboratory Central Laboratory
(B170), based on the Sellafield site. It will provide analytical services going forward to the Sellafield site for several
decades to come.
The project is currently in the concept phase and I am working as Instrument Development Package Manager, providing
support to the RAP PM from a delivery perspective and on issues that have the ability to impact overall project delivery.
The key objective of this position is to deliver the NNL assigned part of the RAP work scope for instrument development
within the agreed project baseline, my responsibilities include:
• Development of 167 instruments to provide analytical services for Sellafield’s future demands.
• Management of the NNL contract in line with the project scope in a safe manner to meet or better the project
baseline cost, schedule and within quality, company procedures, policy, legislative and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure the concept design stage is implemented in accordance with the integrated design services alliance (DSA)
schedule and that financial compliance is maintained.
• Day to day coordination of the integrated instrument development team made up of personnel from Sellafield Ltd
Analytical Services (ASL), National Nuclear Laboratories (NNL) and design services alliance (DSA).
• Confirmation of the monthly submission of NNL’s valuation certificate in line with NEC3, option E contract
arrangements to the agreed baseline schedule.
• Co-ordinating client and contractor design teams to ensure fit purpose solutions were delivered within the bounds of
the authorised work scope.
• Encourage the transfer of product knowledge and skills to the appropriate team members within the amalgamated
project team.
• Utilising the amalgamated teams “Learning from Experience”, disseminating and input of LFE across concept
project stage.
• Identifying risks (and mitigating where possible), for inclusion in the production of the project overall risk register.
• Managing quality assurance in line with Sellafield project quality grade 02.
• Maintaining progress of the development works through regular project meetings and safety and quality audits.

Sub Project Manager/Engineer
Calder Hall power station is currently in the decommissioning stage of its life span, I was responsible for the management
of a varied range of allocated work packages and asset care projects including:
Reactor 3, Stage 1 Commissioning & Functional Testing of the fuel route systems consisting off:
• Pile Cap Equipment,
o Two discharge machines, Traverser Pit.
• Vertical Equipment,
o Binocular Section, Fuel Rod Carriage & Power Tongs.
• Horizontal Equipment,
o Flask Wet fill system, Coffin Bogie System, Bolting Station Systems, Flask Nitrogen Purge System &
Gallows Hoist.
• Vertical/Horizontal equipment,
o Control Cabin.
Installation of the 11kV Electrical Overlay System, of which phase one included:
• Installation of four 11kV/400V 1MVA construction package substations:
o Each substation re-supplied the associated reactor buildings main LV systems.
o Phase one allowed for the decommissioning of the 132kV system for which I was responsible.
o Phase two involved the installation of a number of 250A MDU’s for the transfer of critical supplies from the
existing outdated distribution network.
3. The systematic removal of steel and pipework from 16 heat exchangers
• Valued at £12M which was scheduled to take three and a half years to complete, (completed on budget and 6 months
early)
• Craneage utilised from 100te to 1200te.
• Approximately 2000te of steel and pipework removed.
• Complex and systematic approach to dismantle works.
Installation of security camera’s to all four reactor buildings for monitoring of the spent fuel route.
Rationalisation of all four reactor buildings domestic water supplies.
Installation of roller shutter doors to the discharge bays of all four reactor buildings.
Also responsible for documentation and processes involved in delivery of the above projects/tasks included:
• Steering the Project through the Sellafield Gated Process for Project Sanction and Funding Acceptance.
• Preparation of client tender documentation in accordance with NEC3.
• Assessment of tender submissions.
• Management of commercial activities including compensation events, early warnings, project manager instructions.
• Acceptance of all contractor documents, Design, Install and commissioning documentation.
• Planning and co-ordinating the works of contractors and Sellafield Ltd staff, including the planning of outages with the
Sellafield Ltd SAP’s and other functions within the multidiscipline team.
• Co-ordinating client and contractor design teams to ensure fit purpose solutions were delivered within the bounds of
the authorised work scope.

750VDC Controlled Track Switches in the Sussex/Surrey region for Network Rail, which included:

electrical installation and commissioning of the 2.9km Docklands Light Railway Woolwich Arsenal extension. Principal

• The management of HV/LV installation and commissioning sub-contractors
• The commissioning of one main 11kV substation, which in turn supplies four new 11kV/400V substations and one
750V DC traction substation
