Sports In the 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980 and 1990

1950’s

 Americans got into baseball when the NY Yankees won the
  World Series Title in 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1956 and 1958.
  They also won the American League Pennants in 1955 and
  1957.

 In soccer the Americans beat England 1-0 in the 1950 FIFA
  World Cup which was held in Brazil.

 Causation: What caused this sport to be popular?
  Different events made it popular.


 Connection: What connection does it have with Pop
  culture. It connects that it had certain events before
  it became popular.


 Perspective: Who’s perspective is it written as? It
  was written as the reader’s perspective.
1960’s

In England -FA Cup – Wolver Hampton Wanderers won 3-0
Blackburn Rovers.

The Soviet Union beat Yugoslavia 2-1 to win the first European
Football Championship. World Series –

Pittsburgh Pirates win 4 games to 3 over the New York Yankees.

1960 Causation, Connection and Perspective



 Causation: What was the cause for this sport to
  become popular? It was caused by certain events.


 Connection: How does this connect to Pop Culture?
  It connects in various ways as it all connects
  together.


 Perspective: Who’s perspective is important in Pop
  Culture? The fans and the people who support it.
1970’s

 South Africa completes a 4–0 over Australia at Port Elizabeth.
  This was South Africa's last Test match for 22 years.

 The 1970 World Cup is won by Australia, who won Great
  Britain 12–7 in the finals.

 UCLA wins Jacksonville 80–69 in the NCAA Men’s Division I
  Championship.

  in this decade? The events that happened it the decade or
  the era.


 Connection: How does that connect with other sports? It
  connects to other sports because it can impact them as
  well.


 Perspective: What perspectives do the fans have to the
  sport? It depends on the popularity on that particular
  sport.
1980’s

 West Germany won Belgium 2–1. West Germany
  won the European Championships.

 Edmonton Eskimos won the Hamilton Tiger-Cats
  48–10. Edmonton Eskimos won the Grey Cup.

 West Ham beat Arsenal 1-0 in the FA Cup final.

 Causation: How does Pop Culture cause the popularity
  of the sport? It causes the sport to be more popular.


 Connection: Are the connections important for the fans
  who enjoy the sport? Depends of what the fans think of
  the sport.


 Perspective: Who’s perspective would be more
  important for the sport? The fans perspective is
  important but the authority's choice is important too.
1990’s

West Germany won the Soccer World Cup in Rome, Italy,
defeating the defending champions Argentina 1-0 in the final.

Buster Douglas won Mike Tyson by a knockout in round 10 to
win the world's unified Heavyweight title. Biggest upset in
boxing history.

 Causation: Does everybody enjoy Pop Culture? No, Not
  everyone likes everything that is popular.


 Connection: How that connect to the decade and the
  types of sport there are? They connect to the era and the
  people’s choice.


 Perspective: What makes the perspectives of celebrity’s
  opinion different with people who are quite normal?
  People recognize more from a celebrity because they are
  more famous.
