Case Study 1
A Catholic Church Community
Goal – Identify parishioners, the ministries they are involved in and their level of support.
Combine this with the people served by each ministry and ministry alignment with parish
mission and objective.
Process – Extract information from parish line of business application; including family/parishioner
identification and ministry involvement as supporter or beneficiary. This was combined with
the family/parishioner level of support parish wide in terms of time, talent and treasure.
Tools used included SQL Server, Analysis Services, Reporting Services and Excel.
Result - A clearer and more informed understanding of who is being served, who is serving them,
and how the served and the servers are participating in the overall life of the parish.

Case Study 2
A Professional Services Firm
Goals – Improve the post engagement analysis of work performed for clients. Determine the
level of actual expense and realization versus forecasted revenue and expense.
Process – Extract information from the firm’s Time & Billing application by individual; combine this
data with HR & Payroll data from an external provider, in addition to Invoice data and
Revenue Forecast data from in-house applications.
Tools used included SQL Server, Analysis Services, Reporting Services and Excel.
Result - A significantly better insight into “real” time and dollar performance on an engagement.
This has resulted in better forecasting, increased client satisfaction and insight into the
potential cost/revenue dynamics of an opportunity.
