Shoreline Cleanup
 Started: 1994 in Vancouver B.C.
 Nationally recognized in 2002
 Total of 56,000 volunteers last year
 Happened on Saturday, Sept 15th @ Sawmill Creek
 19 people, 12 garbage bags, 63lbs, area of 1.5 km
 Plastic bags, food wrappers/containers, and paper bags

 Helping to Develop, Assist and Mentor youth
 3 locations: Meadowvale (Mississauga), Burlington, and
now opening: Cooksville (Mississauga)

 When: Sat. Sept 29, 2012 – 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
 Where: The Dam’s Meadowvale Drop-in @ Meadowvale
Town Center (6677 Meadowvale Town Centre Circle)
 Why: Recycle the electronics and The DAM will receive
funds for every pound collected
Acceptable items: audio & video players, batteries, cameras, cellular phones, computer peripherals, compact discs,
copiers, desktop computers, display devices, equalizers, amplifiers, metal, microwaves, modems, monitors, networking
equipment, pagers, laptops, point of sale devices, printing devices, printer cartridges, rack mounted servers,
radios/recorders, receivers, servers, speakers, scanners, telephones, televisions, tuners, turntable, typewriters, video
players/projectors, video devices and recorders, wires

 LIGHT THE NIGHT Leukemia and Lymphoma Walk
 When: October 3, 2012 @ 5:00 PM
 What is it? A walk to raise awareness for
Leukemia and Lymphoma research
 Who should be there? YOU!!! Join the Rotaract
Club of Mississauga team
 How much do you need to raise to participate?
No set amount, raise as much as you think it’s
possible!

23. FOOOOOOD DRIVE!
 Bring in canned goods, pastas, cereals, granola bars,
chocolates, dried noodles, rice and other sauces to help
support Knight’s Table!
 KNIGHT’S TABLE SOUP KITCHEN…..STAY TUNED!
 A PRIZE will be given to the individual who brings in the most
food for the food drive
 DEADLINE: November 7th, 2012

24. Adopt-a-Road Program
 Program by Peel Region to encourage
companies and organizations to help
the environment by adopting a regional
road
 Suggested road: Queensway between
Mavis and Hurontario (1.8 km)
 Involves cleaning up litter on sides of
road twice a year
 Anticipated dates: May 2013 and
Sept/Oct 2013
 Cost: None!!
