4. Objectives
To provide
basic and beginning literacy
programs to 4-7 year old children from the
urban poor communities who have never
been enrolled in a formal school.
To provide reading intervention programs
to 7-9 year old children also from the urban
poor communities who are ―struggling-
readers‖—they may be enrolled in a formal,
dropped out of school or may never been to
school.
5. Objectives
To educate parents/guardians of these
children about their crucial role in the
child’s early development by promoting
the importance of reading and the value of
books.
To provide Rotarians and other partners in
service (Rotaractors, GSE Alumni, and
Inner Wheel members), private citizens
and business entities with the opportunity
to participate in combating illiteracy.

and consequently making them read to learn.
