4. Catalog, Journals, Databases Catalog : Use to search for books and e-books, videos, DVDs, capstones or other materials held in the library collection. Journals : Use if you already know a journal title you want to browse or have a citation and want the full text. Databases : Use to search for articles on a particular subject. 7. Search Our Catalog Patrons can search for items in our collection or log in to their personal accounts using their barcode and last name. Once logged in, patrons can renew items they checked out, create and save searches, tag items or leave reviews for materials they have used. For more catalog tips, visit our catalog tutorial .
8. Your Library Barcode Entering your barcode and last name will give you access from remote locations to our electronic books, journals and databases. All students, staff and faculty are eligible for a library barcode. Contact [email_address] if you are not sure if you have one.
9. Search For Journals The Search For Journals link on the navigation bar allows you to check availability of a journal title. Enter the journal title in the search box or click the “Title” or “Subject” tabs to browse journals by title or subject area. Use the search type options to search key words when you don’t know a full title.
10. Search for Journals Results After searching for a journal title, the results will indicate which databases include that title. More than one database may have coverage, and the dates for full-text coverage may vary. Select the database that includes the year you are interested in. 13. Refining Search Results This is the result of searching for “sustainable development.” Use the options on the left to filter your results by subject, publication type, publication, etc. Use the options on the right to exclude results from particular databases.
14. RefWorks RefWorks SIT offers RefWorks citation management software, free to all students, staff and faculty. This tool can help you keep your references organized, assist with in-text citations of references, and help you properly format bibliographies to any style manual regulations (i.e. APA, MLA, etc.).
