Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of medicine that is based on a close relationship between the body and the universe. It originated over 5,000 years ago and is one of the oldest holistic healing systems. The key texts that provide the foundation of Ayurvedic knowledge are the Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridaya. Ayurveda defines health as a balance between the doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), dhatus (bodily tissues), and malas (waste products). Its treatment approaches include herbal medicines, panchakarma cleansing techniques, yoga, lifestyle and diet. However, Ayurved
2. WHAT IS AYURVEDA?
Ayur = long life Veda = knowledge or
science
Ayurveda is a science or knowledge for living
long and healthy life.
Ayurveda believes in close relationship
between man and universe and the flow of
cosmic energy in different forms between all
living and non living things
5. We must need faith in our science first before
learning it.
Its not a myth….. It’s a fact……begins with
faith….axiomatic truth
Eg. Point is non dimentional energy…… line is
a set of points which have dimentions…plane
is set of lines arrange which have thickness
also.
6. Ayurveda is upaveda of atharvaveda.
A holistic system of healing was taught by
gurus (teachers) from one generation to next.
The origin of ayurveda could be roughly traces
back to 5000 years ago.
The knowledge we have now is by three
surviving texts of charak , sushrut and vagbhat

according to nature of patient and symptoms
seen in him not gives conventional
treatmement like allopathy.
19. SIDE EFFECTS OF METALS IN AYURVEDIC
MEDICINES ???????
Perfect preperation methods of ancient
acharyas.
Eg. Musha… put…..papati…. Ras kalpana…
It makes medicines that much fine to
assimilate with body tissues.
Murchana… clears hazardous effects of metals.
23. Very few organizations have well-established research
infrastructure for exclusive research in Ayurveda. Why?
What kind of modern technology is required in order to
conduct proper research in Ayurveda?
As many as 1200 Ayurvedic post-graduates pass their
examination each year and enter into the streamline of
academics and practice. Why is it that the least of them
choose their profession as research in Ayurveda?
Are Ayurvedic scholars clear about their views for an
Ayurvedic future?
Why does Ayurveda not get as much importance as modern
medicine in its own birthplace – India? Why is this ancient
wisdom lagging behind, despite having tremendous
potential to treat diseases successfully? Has this science
remained at a superficial level?
24. SOLUTION…..
We have to understand our principles (vidhis)
first properly and rewrite them according to
understanding of new era.
Accordingly we have to develop new
techniques .
More practical research studies will be require
to understand the properties of ayurvedic
drugs.
Need clear views, vision, and support to
improve.

Then question arises in mind…. How to give personalised treatment to the patient? For that we have to understand first the basic principles of ayurveda.
