2. Geostationary earth orbit
A GEO satellite is an earth-orbiting satellite,
placed at an altitude of approx 35,800
kilometers directly over the equator. The
GEO satellite revolves in the same direction
as the earth rotates. The satellite appears
nearly stationary in the sky as seen by a
ground-based observer.GEO satellites have
24 hour view of a particular area.

3. Low earth orbit
A low Earth orbit is an orbit with an altitude
around earth between 160 kilometers and
2,000 kilometers. LEO does not stay in
fixed position relative to the surface. LEO
satellites provide high bandwidth and low
communication time lag, thus are simplest
for satellite placement.

4. Medium earth orbit
Medium Earth orbit is the area of space
around the Earth that is above low earth
orbit satellite and below geostationary
orbit. MEO satellites have larger coverage
area than LEO satellites.

5. Molniya orbit satellite
This satellite type of highly elliptical orbit
with an inclination of 63.4 degrees remains
in fixed position relative to earth for eight
hours. Molniya orbits are named after a
series of Russian Molniya communications
satellites.
