TO RUN PORTABLES WITH FIRE LINE ALONG
WITH 4 BLOWERS. MAX PRESSURE IS 8 BAR
Preparations immediately after
completion of discharging:-
Turn blanks for tank cleaning line hydrants
Turn blanks for overboard line
Unlock the seachest and overboard valves
Arrange for 4 sets of portable tank cleaning
trolleys + fire hoses
Arrange for 4 sets of Dasic blowers + ducts +
fire hoses
Tank cleaning / Gas Freeing
operation:-
To wash all cargo tanks in pairs for 5 hours each with
fixed and portable machines.
 A total of 130 mins in each 5 hour period will be
spent roughly on giving drops and then shifting of
these machines. Drops 5, 10, 15, 20, 25m each hour.
 Tanks will be Gas freed as a priority so that work by
the special survey team can begin.
Require to run 2 blowers each in all tanks. Each
blower requires atleast 20 mins to be shifted. Total
time on shifting blowers in each 5 hour period will be
roughly 80 mins
In addition, the following
jobs:-
 To provide SS II team with a Safety Officer at all times
for issuing Permits and assist with stagger test.
 To assist in tank inspection / removal of water from
tanks
 Cleaning of portable machines & gas freeing blowers
 Flushing / pressure testing of slop tank heating coils
 Preparation of Gymnasium / alleyways for drydock
 To prepare for reducer on No.2 portside manifold for
deslopping in Singapore
 To blank 5C IG line; to be opened up after deslopping
Jobs prior to entering Dry Dock
Deslopping / Gas Freeing for 14 hrs
To ensure slop tank heating coils filled with Fresh water
To wash and secure all tank clean equipment
Deballasting to reach required draft of 5m / 6m
Stores – Checking and securing
LSA / FFA to be secured
Keep mooring lines ready for docking stations

IMPORTANCE OF KEEPING GOOD ANCHOR
WATCH IN LIGHT SHIP CONDITION.
Entering Dry Dock
 4 Hours notice required for pilot
 4 tugs required for vessel’s Light condition
 Remember propellor out during transit
 Keep plant ready for deballasting in dock
 Spanners for bottom plugs loacted in C.C.R.

Some important aspects of the work plan:-
 Responsibility for CHIOS Team’s Work progress
 Ensuring Marking / storing of ship’s plugs
 Covering the transducers / draft gauge inlets
 Quality control during Hull painting at night or
in rainy conditions
 Maintaining a count of empty paint containers
Officers Work Plan in Dry Dock
Some important aspects of the work plan:-
 Maintaining a count of quantity of sludge / mud
removed from the vessel
 Check and control any stores received and inform
concerned team members
 Checking / reporting of indentations on the Hull
 Ensure that the cargo hydraulic system is kept
OFF
 Monitoring ballasting by shore pumps as per plan
Departure Dry Dock
Some important questions:-
 Are sea valves fitted back?
 Are ship’s plugs fitted back?
 Is Hull painting completed and dry?
 Tapes removed from transducers / draft gauges?
 Is ballast distribution on departure correct?
 Is all vessel’s equipment fitted & functional?
 Have the misc. shore lines been disconnected?

  • 10. DANGERS / PRECAUTIONSDANGERS / PRECAUTIONS TANK CLEANING AT NIGHT WITH TANK MANHOLES OPEN PICKING UP / MOVING AROUND WITH HEAVY EQUIPMENT POLLUTION THROUGH COW HYDRANTS & TANK DOMES MAX. C.O.W. LINE PRESSURE IS 10 BAR TO RUN PORTABLES WITH FIRE LINE ALONG WITH 4 BLOWERS. MAX PRESSURE IS 8 BAR

Preparations immediately after completion of discharging:- Turn blanks for tank cleaning line hydrants Turn blanks for overboard line Unlock the seachest and overboard valves Arrange for 4 sets of portable tank cleaning trolleys + fire hoses Arrange for 4 sets of Dasic blowers + ducts + fire hoses
  • 12. Tank cleaning / Gas Freeing operation:- To wash all cargo tanks in pairs for 5 hours each with fixed and portable machines.  A total of 130 mins in each 5 hour period will be spent roughly on giving drops and then shifting of these machines. Drops 5, 10, 15, 20, 25m each hour.  Tanks will be Gas freed as a priority so that work by the special survey team can begin. Require to run 2 blowers each in all tanks. Each blower requires atleast 20 mins to be shifted. Total time on shifting blowers in each 5 hour period will be roughly 80 mins
  • 13. In addition, the following jobs:-  To provide SS II team with a Safety Officer at all times for issuing Permits and assist with stagger test.  To assist in tank inspection / removal of water from tanks  Cleaning of portable machines & gas freeing blowers  Flushing / pressure testing of slop tank heating coils  Preparation of Gymnasium / alleyways for drydock  To prepare for reducer on No.2 portside manifold for deslopping in Singapore  To blank 5C IG line; to be opened up after deslopping

Jobs prior to entering Dry Dock Deslopping / Gas Freeing for 14 hrs To ensure slop tank heating coils filled with Fresh water To wash and secure all tank clean equipment Deballasting to reach required draft of 5m / 6m Stores – Checking and securing LSA / FFA to be secured Keep mooring lines ready for docking stations  IMPORTANCE OF KEEPING GOOD ANCHOR WATCH IN LIGHT SHIP CONDITION.

Entering Dry Dock  4 Hours notice required for pilot  4 tugs required for vessel’s Light condition  Remember propellor out during transit  Keep plant ready for deballasting in dock  Spanners for bottom plugs loacted in C.C.R.  ENSURE ECHO SOUNDER / SPEED LOG SWITCHED OFF BEFORE ENTERING DOCKS  ENSURE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT LIKE NETWORK OFF BEFORE CHANGING OVER TO SHORE POWER SUPPLY

Officers Work Plan in Dry Dock Some important aspects of the work plan:-  Responsibility for CHIOS Team’s Work progress  Ensuring Marking / storing of ship’s plugs  Covering the transducers / draft gauge inlets  Quality control during Hull painting at night or in rainy conditions  Maintaining a count of empty paint containers

Officers Work Plan in Dry Dock Some important aspects of the work plan:-  Maintaining a count of quantity of sludge / mud removed from the vessel  Check and control any stores received and inform concerned team members  Checking / reporting of indentations on the Hull  Ensure that the cargo hydraulic system is kept OFF  Monitoring ballasting by shore pumps as per plan

Departure Dry Dock Some important questions:-  Are sea valves fitted back?  Are ship’s plugs fitted back?  Is Hull painting completed and dry?  Tapes removed from transducers / draft gauges?  Is ballast distribution on departure correct?  Is all vessel’s equipment fitted & functional?  Have the misc. shore lines been disconnected?
