This is Jody’s fawn.…
Summary of the prose
• Jody’s Father Mr. Baxter was bitten by a rattle snake. He killed a doe and used its liver and heart to suck the poison from his body.
• The next morning he felt much better but , his son Jody was worried about the doe’s fawn which was left all alone.
• He discussed the same thing with his father, His father agreed with his idea but he said to ask permission to his mother
• Then he went to his mother to ask permission, and his
Mother agreed with his idea but only if he agrees on a
Promise. He should share his milk to the Fawn.
• Doc willson and Mill wheel also approved considering that they have already left the fawn motherless.
• Jody went with mill wheel on his horse to the place where his father was bitten by
the snake.
• When Jody reached the place he found Buzzards hovering over the carcass of the
dead doe.
• He threw his bough at them and they flew into an adjacent tree.
• He went in search of the fawn and went into the forest.
• There he found the fawn .he carried it in his arms and get it to his home.
• After going home , Jody went to the kitchen. The fawn wobbled after him. A pan of morning’s milk stood in
the kitchen safe.
• He poured milk into a small gourd.
• He dipped his fingers in the milk and thrust them into the fawn’s soft wet mouth.
• This shows how kind is Jody.
MORAL
The story revolves around the theme of gratitude and kindness
love and compassion are necessities without which humanity cannot
survive. True compassion means not only feeling others pain but also
being moved to help relieve it.
