REDIS – FINAL CONFERENCE
12TH – 14TH APRIL 2011, CITY OF MAGDEBURG, TOWNHALL
Intro
Science and research are important drivers for the development of European cities today. This effects
development approaches in all areas of urban life: culture, social life, economic development and urban
planning.
The City of Magdeburg and the URBACT project REDIS invite an international audience to discuss these
issues at the conference. A number of leading experts and policy makers will give speeches to reflect on the
theme. There will also be a look at the global dimension of the topic, as Dr. Kwon Lee refers to the
development of Songdo international city in South Corea.
REDIS is an international exchange project, in which a number of European cities exchanged ideas on
rebuilding of city quarters for knowledge based development. Based on the project results, there will be
presentations of several European cities with high knowledge ambitions, which will give new insights and
lessons on knowledge-based urban planning.
