2. Introduction to
Transformational Leadership

leadership has a nobility in Burns’s descriptions that
suggests very desirable and attractive characteristics
of the person who incarnates it. The transforming

leader achieves “significant change.” (p. 1800,

10. In another
historical
context…
Mandela would be inspiration in
any time of historical context.
Especially in the past world, as
there were to be many racial
issues that were occurring.
Mandela would be successful in
the USA today because of the
educational system. His ideas,
thoughts, intelligence, and self-
confidence would inspire the
African American youth of today
to educate themselves and
better themselves.
11. Leadership Characteristics
Servant
Leadership
Being a servant leader
within my profession will
help my progress as well as
the ones I lead.
I work in the African
American Community, and
his idea of having
education will help me
inspire the youth of today.
Transformational
Leadership
Showing self-confidence
will assist my message
getting across to the ones I
lead.
Integrity because it will
help me stand up for what I
believe in within the
educational system.
12. How am I influenced…
I am inspired by Mandela, because he fought for
what he believed in, which was civil rights. I work in
an African American Community, and I enjoy learning
about civil right leaders to help inspire my students.
Mandela stood for what he was and believed. I want
to do the same within the educational system. I
believe that there needs to be changes with the
Common Core.
I will do what I possibly can to inspire others to
better their teaching to help the children of our
future.
13. Questions
Can one combine leaderships to better myself and
the work I do in education?
What type of leadership will I develop within the
educational world to better it?
14. Conclusion
Mandela is not only a Transformational Leader, but
he also possessed characteristics of a Servant
Leader. He inspired others, an fought for others. I
believe that I am a bit of both forms of leadership
within my teaching career. Overall, being a
transformation leader means that you are able to
adjust to those you have to work with to get the job
done.

Mandela and Du Bois are very similar with few differences. The differences they possess is pretty significant. For example, Mandela was imprisoned, a civil rights leader and was a transformational leader. Du Bois was a college graduate, educator, and was a hisotrical leader of his own kind. However, their similarities are abundant. They both were Motivator, Honesty, Integrity, Confident, Intelligent, Inspired others, Non-violent, End discrimination.

Leadership characteristics that I want to develop and better are within the servant form and transformational form. Two questions that I would ask are:

What type of leadership will I develop within the educational world to better it?
