  3. Enlist volunteers from Longwood University to walk the dogs and pet the cats 20 hours pledged by volunteers Supplies for the shelter to use for a month will deem this fundraiser a success
  4. We had decided to would with the SPCA, planned out an event we wanted to do, and then found out that another group wanted to work with the organization as well. So as a group, we had to work together to decide if we still wanted to stay working with the SPCA even though we would have competition from another group. We went through problem-solution cycles using the complex cyclic path to figure out if we should continue working with the SPCA. We considered the problems of having two groups promoting a fundraiser for the same organization. However a solution arose that the other group would focus on puppies at the SPCA and our group would focus on adult dogs as well as cats.
  5. In our team, Meredith was the team management type of leader. She had high concern for both people and production. In one instance a team member overslept on the day of the event. Meredith went to her apartment and physically got her out of her room so that she could attend the event. Meredith was so concerned with the individual’s need to get a good grade through attending the event that she did that for her. She was also concerned with productivity because this individual was vital to the group for her ability to contribute to the team and the event. Because Meredith was concerned with the individual as well as the productivity of the group, she is classified as having the team management style of leadership
  6. The conflict style that was used in my group was often avoidance. The conflicts were never brought up or addressed rather they were just dismissed. This strategy was rarely effective and showed little concern for either individual’s needs. Had the group exercised the collaboration method we could have reached a solution that could benefit both of the individuals. If we had collaborated on the problem of members skipping meetings, leaving early, or not turning things in on time then it would have benefited Meredith by releasing the burden off of her and benefited the other individuals by helping their grade as well as esteem and affiliation needs. By utilizing the felt conflict our group could have focused on the problem at hand, formulated a strategy, and considered an outcome.
