HEADLINE: LOCAL HERO
Last Monday a 3 year old boy was rescued from a house fire in Salford. Emergency services
were called just before 04:00 GMT after the fire broke out in the kitchen of the house on
Claremont Road in Salford. Trapped by the flames, Luke Hopkins was in his second story
bedroom with his mother unable to rescue him. She helplessly rushed outside to call the fire
services when a neighbour was woken up by the screams and ran out to see what had
happened. Samuel Jones, 20 used a pair of ladders to climb through the young boy‟s
bedroom and bring him to safety. Shortly after, an ambulance and two fire engines arrived at
the scene. Both Samuel and Luke were rushed straight to hospital after the incident where
Samuel was discharged 2 hours later. Luke remained in hospital for observation for 4 days
but is now home safe feeling very thankful to his neighbour. Doctors fear that if Samuel has
not intervened, 3 year old Luke may not have been so lucky. Catharine, Luke‟s mother is very
grateful for Samuel‟s heroic input saying “I cannot bare to think what would of happened if
he had not been there. Luke understands how lucky he is and he and I will be eternally
grateful for Samuel‟s kindness”.

TAGLINE: Manchester United’s Old Trafford Football Stadium to be renamed
Manchester United is set to be making a deal on renaming the infamous „Old Trafford‟
football ground as the „Nike Stadium‟. This report follows after the football team were open
to sponsors who were interested in branding the iconic football stadium. With a capacity of
75,731, Old Trafford is the second-largest football stadium in the United Kingdom after
Wembley Stadium. Nicknamed „The Theatre of Dreams‟, Old Trafford has been United‟s
Ground since 1910 and has become well recognised globally. The report of this name change
has caused a disruption from the fans, Charles Webber a season ticket holder shares his
disappointment towards the club by stating “I can‟t believe their changing the stadiums
name. A lot has happened this season but this is taking it too far, but I know that everyone
will stick by the club no matter what happens it will always be Old Trafford to us loyal fans”.
Thousands of fans have protested against the name change which they blame completely on
the owners of the football team, American billionaires: The Glazers. However, a spokesman
for Manchester United has responded by saying “the name change of the ground has not
been influenced by the Glazers”. The reported 100 million pound deal with the sports brand
Nike is set to begin starting next season, where the stadium will be reformed promoting the
company Nike. There are also rumours that they plan to expand the capacity of the stadium.
The club refuse to comment on all rumours surrounding this.
HEADLINE: MAN ARRESTED FOR ARMED ROBBERY IN TOWN CENTRE
Last October an armed robbery took place in a local shop in Manchester town centre. No
civilians were injured in the run in although many were left traumatized. The robber got
away with almost £2000 from the till and also £6000 taken from the back in the shops
private safe but when the police were called shortly after they were too late to catch the
culprit. There was almost £1000 pounds worth of damages during the incident and it has
been confirmed that the man acted alone. Although a man is also being searched for who
helped the robber get away. Since this, there have been no suspects for the crime until
recently when a witness came forward with new information. Police have now arrested
James Quigley, 47 from Salford and charged him with armed robbery. The CCTVfootage
confirms that Quigley (pictured) is likely to be the culprit for the crime although he is set to
appear in court on the 20th September to settle this on-going case. Police are urging forward
any witnesses who have not yet come forward to now give information no matter how
unimportant it might seem for this crime.
HEADLINE: HAVE YOU SEEN THIS GIRL?
Megan Richardson, 17 went missing on her way home from college almost 3 weeks ago. Her
family have posted her picture on the streets and all over social media yet nobody has come
forward with information. It is believed she was happy at home and in college, with no
reason to want to run away. Her family and friends plead with the public to keep an eye out
and come forward with any information no matter how unimportant it may seem to be.
