Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine
• Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software is used to
compare the performance of different Wind Turbine Blade

• A steady state, incompressible flow solver for Multiple
Reference Frames (MRF)

Attack (α)
• Geometry of the standard NACA-9417 Airfoil

• Flow optimization in a blade with a add-on part which gives better result
• Winglet

• Flow of air over a rotating wind turbine rotor implies that the fluid flows
in an inertial frame of reference while the rotor rotates in a non inertial
reference frame

finalized NACA-9417 at 10 degree angle of
attack is giving the better results
• The blade which we got the better result , in
that the add-on part(winglet) will be
implemented and the second cut analysis starts
in that configuration

CONCLUTION
• A growing number of researchers is using CFD to
study wind-turbine wake aerodynamics
• More research on the effect of stratification on power
production is to be expected
• Aerodynamics turbulence is a dominating factor,
affecting the blade performance and Wake behaviour
so we tried to reduce this factor in this analysis
