Design, analyze, and ensure regulatory compliance with one tool: OHDA from Schneider Electric.
Are you analyzing designs using spreadsheets and books full of rules and regulations? Do you have one system to calculate sag and tension on cables, and another to calculate pole loading? Today, a surprising number of utilities are using disparate systems to build and analyze designs.
At Schneider Electric, we offer OHDA to take the pain out of engineering analysis. Say goodbye to your bookshelf full of rules and regulations, and farewell to accessing multiple systems for different calculations. Say hello to OHDA.

A more efficient way to perform engineering analysis
OHDA combines sag and tension calculations, pole load calculations, safety
regulations, and GIS in one application. Use OHDA as a stand-alone analysis
tool, or import and analyze a design from Designer. Perform analysis according to
your standards and regulations, and make modifications based on your analysis.
With OHDA, you get all of this in a single application — and the power of 3-D.
Build and navigate your design in a 3-D environment. OHDA provides the tools
you need to design your poles, assemblies, guying, and cables in 3-D, as well as
the terrain profile. View your design in 3-D or in a plan and profile view.
With OHDA, you can visualize the distance between assemblies on a pole
or the clearance of a wire over a building. It makes it easy to adjust a design
by manipulating the position of elements in the display or by editing specific
equipment details. Plus you can view and correct any structural limitations and
clearance violations, before work begins in the field.

3. Design with confidence
OHDA employs industry standards and best
practices to calculate sag and tension. OHDA’s pole
load analysis leverages finite element methods to
determine the impact of all forces and equipment on
each pole’s structural integrity.
OHDA’s line clearance analysis tools make it easy
to determine and set vertical clearance distance
requirements. Use the Clearance Rules Editor
to view and edit clearance rules for surfaces,
structures, and wire-to-wire distances.
While OHDA arrives out of the box with several sets
of rules and regulations, you can import the specific
set of rules your utility requires. The following rules
and regulations are included:
• GO95
• NESC
• CSA
A wealth of data at your fingertips
Once your design passes integrity and engineering
checks, you’re ready to build it in the field. OHDA
provides a series of reports to make it easy to
compile and print your design paperwork, including:
• A profile report that displays a 2-D side view of
your design on a single page
• A per location report that details all of your
design’s pole information and analysis
• A stringing chart with the information your
construction crew needs to install cables intimate
knowledge of your specific operations and
process controls.
OHDA also harnesses the power of Designer’s GIS and
adds advanced engineering calculations to quickly ensure
that your construction projects comply with regulatory
rules and engineering requirements.
