1. Tell me in no more than 20 words, what is your
FMP idea?
My FMP idea is a guide on how to survive a
horror-slasher movie that aims to improve on the
flaws of the previous Final Major Project.
Why have you decided to make it? I have decided to make a horror/slasher survival
movie guide because I want to bring my artistic
idea to show my view of slashers and to make an
FMP without the flaws of the first one.
What about your project makes it important to
you?
What’s important to me about this project is that I
want it to be horror that succeeds in being scary. I
have been a huge fan of horror since quarantine,
getting to make a horror movie of my own a
second time is important to me. What also
matters to me is getting a second chance to make
a psychological horror movie that I can improve
from the first FMP because it had flaws that
stopped it from succeeding in being scary.
Outline some of the initial influences on your
idea/work and some potential research targets
(remember, research is not just a paper-based
activity)
- Friday the 13th
(2009 movie)
- Halloween 2018 (2018 movie)
- Scream 5 (2021 movie)
- Friday the 13th
the game (2017
videogame)
- Dead by Daylight (2016 videogame)
What effect do you want to have on your
audience when they see your project?
I want the audience to be scared by my project
when they see it. The first FMP that was supposed
to be scary ended up as repetitive and funny
because it was too light, my actor was better at
being funny than scary and the story just kept on
jumping from one victim who dies in a funny way
to the next becoming very repetitive. I’m going to
make this movie literally darker, I will either get a
new actor to be scary or get the older one to be
scary and have more of a story instead of endless
death, the lack of flaws will make the movie
scarier, and I think this will make the audience
scared.
Describe the tone/mood/style of your project
[which production techniques/characteristics are
you employing?]
The tone of my project is serious and scary,
people will not laugh at it but see it as horror and
they will be afraid when watching the movie. The
mood of my project will be suspenseful, the
atmosphere will be constantly jumpy, and
everyone will be constantly afraid of what’ll
happen next. The style of my project will be
horror, it’ll have a dark atmosphere and have
scares at every turn. The
2. techniques/characteristics I’ll use will be slow,
long or moving shots to build tension, a dark
atmosphere to make everything unsettling, either
use suspenseful silence or creepy sounds to make
people unsettled.
Why have you decided to make your project in
this style?
I decided to make this project in the style of
horror because I’m a fan of horror, and I want to
make a second horror movie that’s improved from
the original FMP. I’ve been a fan of horror since
quarantine, getting a chance to make a movie in
the style of horror a second time will give me
hours of fun. I also chose the style of horror to
have a second chance at making a horror movie, I
want to improve it from the original to make it
scary.
