2. Introduction
• Electrical power theft detection system is used to
detect an unauthorized tapping on distribution
lines. Implementation area of this system is a
distribution network of electrical power supply
system. This system actually finds out on which
electrical line there is a tapping. This is a real type
system. Wireless data transmission system and
receiving technique is used. This will protect
distribution network from power theft done by
tapping, meter tempering etc.
4. working
• As the normal practice the supply mains comes to the
energy meter.
• Pulse counting from the meter is fed to the
microcontroller.
• For the reference value of pulse counting we take a tap
before energy meter through conditioning circuit and
ADC to microcontroller.
• In microcontroller the comparison of both pulses are
done. If any difference detected above set limits, the
microcontroller will command relay to operate. The
relay will disconnect the load where the theft is
detected.
5. • The microcontroller will also display on LCD
“Power Theft Alert”.
• Also the microcontroller gives command to
GSM modem to send message to authorized
mobile number.
• Also the microcontroller requires external
power supply which is provided through
power supply circuit.
