3. Preliminary Project – Research & Planning
• How did you think about target audience?
During the process of choosing a specific target audience type for my magazine, I
considered various aspects in which would appeal to a specific group of people. Of
having the basic knowledge that my magazine would be aimed at people in education i
had to reduce the group to either college, secondary, primary or university. I decided to
chose college, as that is the stage I am currently at and I felt I would have more
knowledge of this area.
4. Preliminary Project – Research & Planning
• How did awareness of that audience impact upon your visual design and choice of
language?
In considering the audience type, I had to relate features to interest the student
audience. I chose to add a competition advertisement to the magazine cover as it will
keep the audience attentiveness. In addition to this the use of the product being a
laptop relates to the audience type, as college students are more likely to need either a
laptop or desktop to help them along with work. I have also added other features such
as different fashion elements, as this is usually a common talk effort in young people. It
has made an overall impact on my design on a whole as I have been able to adapt the
magazine cover specifically to the target audience.
5. Preliminary Project – Research & Planning
• What key points did you learn about Adobe Photoshop and InDesign in
constructing your artefacts?
Whilst using both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign, I have been able to develop
my skills using them to create a final magazine cover and contents page. I have used
them to improve my knowledge further, using new told within it and creating a final
piece at my highest standard. The software's have allowed me to use new
features, such as using the ‘gridlines’ in InDesign to ensure there is specific alignment
and the images and text are in place.
7. Reflections & Feedback
• What would you do differently next time?
• What kind of feedback did you get that might
influence you?
• What aspects of your understanding of Adobe
Photoshop & InDesign do you need to improve?
