Q2)
1. Q2) How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
• For my magazine I used different features to make it suitable for my social group, firstly for my
double page spread I used the poses and expressions because I found very similar conventions
when doing my research. An example is this VIBE. I think the facial expression and clothing relates
to the music style and represents the target audience. I think to some extent that my choices of
shots are a good way of connecting with the target audience. For example I have used a direct
mode of address this would grab the audience’s attention right away also in my research I found
that many of the shots used were close ups and mid-shots to clearly show who the artist is.
• Furthermore I think that my magazine can also represent my chosen social group simply because of
the consistent colour scheme I have used and how I have kept it plain and simple for my audience
to understand. The three colours (Pink, Blue and White) can easily be associated with my target
audience (females) because of the connotations behind it; I would think that my magazine employs
the necessary conventions that allow it to act as a representation of the audience. I had to think
carefully about what I could include in my magazine and how the features would affect the way I
was trying to put the magazine across to the audience; which was why my magazine is different
from the other magazines out in the music industry as it will give the audience a chance to win
concert tickets and it would also include tips for those who want to become a part of the music
industry in the future.
