4. ROUGH MODEL ANALYSIS
1:1 SCALE MODEL
According to those concept, many rough models help me to analysis the
detail of the chair and I came up with the final concept.
Before building the final model, a 1:1 scale model is required to make sure
the dimension about the chair.

5. The main material of the chair is
wood with ametal ring. And it uses a
simple way to connect each part of
chair.

There are two circles in the chair: one is the seat area and other one is the foot support. The reason why I call it
a Q-Cir Chair is you can seat on it in two different ways: you can seat on it in the side or the front. You can rotate
your body in a quarter of circle. The position of the legs are located in a triangle, which makes the chair stable and
unique.

6. Nezi Chair TV Table furniture design
Influenced by Gearóid Ó Conchubhair (PhD, National College of Art and
Design, Ireland), I am interested in the furniture design, and I attend
an open studio to design furniture and I choose the TV table as my
direction.

7. The height of storage space in TV table is decided by the activity scope of
human hand.
The height of TV table is decided by the postures when people watch TV
and the height of people's eye.
The size of furniture is a significant factor of furniture deisgn. The width of
TV decided the minimum width of TV table and the length of TV decided the
minimum length of the TV table.

Here shows some details of the test model .
From the original direction, making scale model to anlysis the form and the
size is essential. By this way, I can "touch" my deisgn.
From the solidworks model, we can get the detail dimension and form of the
TV table and analysis the possibility of structure.
I use yellow pine lumber to build the 1:1
test model to figure out if the structure
works. And discuss with my classmates
PROBLEM ONE:
The strength of corner is too weak to
support the structure because of the
wrong direction of wood grain.
PROBLEM THREE:
The form of the whole table produces
outward tension. And the weight of
second layer make it easy to deform.
PROBLEM TWO:
For the test model, I used finger
joint to connect each part. It can
not provide enough strength to
support whole table and hard to
manufacturing.

9. I made many rough models to analysis the dimension and color and graphic
pattern of the AU logo and gift design.
Those two lines represent the ability of storage. The second way has more
space to storage things.
According to the analysis of force direction, I decided to adjust the angle of
legs and make it straight.

The most common way to design the wood grain is paralleling the longest
board to design the wood grain because it produces the highest strength of
wood to support structure.
How to make the corner's wood grain parallelling the curve of corner?
I tried different ways to cut the wood and got the result:
I tried different types of wood joint such as doweled butt joint, box joint,
dovetail joint and spline joint. Finally I decided to use spline joint.

Here is working flow: Cutting board to proper length, shaping the wood
board, making the structure and sanding it, putting it together, sanding it
again and oiling it by tong oil.

10. Here shows some features about the NEZI table: The corner wood grain and
joint of different part.
For this NEZI table, it has two layers. You can put the TV or some decoration
things on the top layer and put some accessories such as DVD player, CDs,
Satellite signal receiver and so on. It is flexible for people to storage things.
With the good form of NEZI table and great space planning, watching TV can
be really enjoyable.
The basic shape of NEZI table will look like the letter N and Z which makes it
looks like really simple.

11. AU promoting gift & exhibition design
Auburn University need to design gifts and exhibition for
"International Exhibition & Conference on Higher Education"
conference in Saudi Arabia.

12. AU PROMOTING GIFTS DESIGN
According the "AU styleguide", we found the guideline to design
the AU gifts and exhibition display. Such as the AU color, the
position of logo, the font of logo and so on.
We invited some international students who came from Saudi Arabia to
discuss the gift custom and culture of them and did some test to research
what they will choose as a gift when they went to the conference.
From the research, we found they perfer the gift which have multi-fuction
and amusing appearance.

13. We collected the sample of AU logo in campus and analysis how to apply the
AU logo to different things such as gifts, banners, food and so on.

Those are many concepts about the gift design about the AU
logo and after discussing with sponsor, we choose six concepts to
develop.
Finally, after talking with sponsor, we decided to use these concepts: business
card box; phone stand and multifunctional ruler.
I made many rough models to analysis the dimension and color and graphic
pattern of the AU logo and gift design.

This card holder can display the business card and it can also become a
phone stand to help you hold your phone

the "LOGO AU".

helps to secure the AU cover. A pair of
hinges make it easy to open/close the

has a clip at the back. It is very easy to carry around.

I made many rough models to analysis the dimension and color and graphic

16. For this bookmark, it has step for better bookmarking and it also has spining
AU logo to add little fun element when you use it.
AU BOOKMARK OR RULER
When you want to use the bookmake, you just need to put it in the middle of
the book, then use the Post-it tabs to make marks. And you can just turn the
page, the bookmark will be left in the last page naturally.

It also provide room for Post-it tabs to help you remember and at the bottom
of the bookmark, it also has Samford tower image to promotiong AU.
On the side of the bookmark, it has a ruler and it looks like a tiger tail to
present AU spirit.

17. AU PROMOTING POP DISPLAY DESIGN
Auburn University need a POP display for "International Exhibition &
Conference on Higher Education" conference in Saudi Arabia.

From those problem research, we analysis the process of people's visiting
and come up with different situation and storyboard.

From the storyboard, we come up with developed concept: it has a book to
display important information and it also has big board to show some picture
and attract people's attention.
DEVELOPMENT CONCEPT
The space we can use is 3m*3m, and there is a table in the middle of the
exhibition space. Therefore, the pop display can be put in two place: table or
the panel between table and wall.

There are many paper and books
on the table which can distribute
people's attention, we need a pop

From the photo, we can see it is little
hard for people to read information
because too many books and paper.
We need to pick up important

Emerson company provide us five vehicles to design the Automobile Vac
Cleaner:

2015 Dodge Ram 1500

2015 GMC Acadia
And I decided to design Vacuum Cleaner for 2015 Toyota Camry.

We went to Toyota Dealer to do
storage space research.

In order to analysis the exist product, we went to Honda dealer to test
Automobile Vac Cleaner and did some research on the Internet.
From the Internet, we found top 5 best selling product and view the costomer
reviews from Amazon and found out those products' strength and weakness.

23. I do some research about the hose and how to circle the hose well.
Finally, I found out the area to circle the hose.

and figure out the dimension of the Vacuum cleaner.

25. After discussing with sponsor, we choose the second concept to build the
model.
In this way, the plate tube will have at least two corner to avoid the structure
of trunk. From the test from other group, the more corner it have, the more
suction power it will lose.

How to put the vacuum cleaner's motor in the trunk properly. There are two
directions I analysised.

For the connection part two, it has groove structure to lock the dirt cup to
the plate tube.
This 40'' stretch hose can easily reach everywhere in the car.

keyshot to rendering it and display.

For the connection part one, it use a connecter to connect Hose pass and dirt
cup. Insert the connecter into the dirt cup and rotate it, it will be locked.
