About short keys of revit and basic explanation about its methodology of modeling, generation of drawing, material application, camera/view setting and rendering
2. INTRODUCTION
• The original software was developed by Charles River Software, founded in 1997,
renamed Revit Technology Corporation in 2000, and acquired by Autodesk in 2002.
• The Revit software itself includes features for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and
structural
• Engineering as well as architecture and building construction. It features bi-directional
associative functionality that responds to changes and applies those changes
throughout the design while modeling capabilities translate this information into
images that designers and builders can use. The software also allows multiple users to
work on a single model simultaneously, a feature that works well in a collaborative
environment.

22. METHODOLOGY OF MODELING
• BIM (Building Information Modelling) methodology intents the integration of all
phases of the construction process.
• It is supported by three-dimensional visualization applications.
• Potential of BIM concept is also in standardization of information, supported by the
standardization of methods to perform the objects modelling process.
• The application of BIM methodology requires high demands for computers, i.e., a
large RAM capacity, as when performing a reinforcement extending through
modelling ‘Reinforcement’ can take several minutes.

• About the Material Browser - Use the Material Browser dialog to find and manage materials for
elements.
• Create a Material - material from the Material Browser dialog.
• Apply Materials to Elements - to provide a realistic visualization of the building model or to
provide information that can be used in analysis and scheduling.
• About Material Libraries - a collection of materials and related assets. Some libraries are
provided by Autodesk, and others are created by users.
• About Locked Libraries - protected from having materials modified, added, or deleted from its
contents
• Create a Material Library - to contain a set of materials for easy access, such as a set that you
use most often, or a set that you use with a particular project type, such as Commercial or
Residential
27. • Share Materials and Material Libraries - share custom materials with other users by making them
available in a material library that is shared.
• About Material Properties and Assets - The properties that define a material are organized into
assets. Assets are groups of properties that control certain characteristics or behaviors of an object.
• Change the Appearance of a Material - To change the appearance properties of a material in a
project, modify the options on the Appearance tab in the Material Editor panel of the Material
Browser.

Autodesk® Inventor.
29. DRAWING GENERATION
Powerful features:
1. Efficiency
• Automatically adds all host elements to the assembly
• Uses configurations instead of manual work
• Creates views applying different templates automatically.
• Creates different schedules according to schedule templates automatically
• Creates dimensions with notes in selected views automatically
• Places views on sheets automatically
• Multiple assemblies with defined configurations can be created with a single click
• Check status, update, edit, and change dimensioning configurations of selected assemblies easily
30. 2. Management
• Update assemblies according to project changes.
• Select/find/isolate primary and secondary assemblies.
• Find changes in assemblies due to the new hosted details.
Benefits :
• Incredibly Speedy. Smart Assemblies enables you to prepare shop drawings for many selected
elements.
• Hundreds of hours per project saved. Revit users will save hundreds of hours per project
using Smart Assemblies automation of shop drawing creation.
• Easy Updates. BIM solution Smart Assemblies will update it according to dimensioning settings
that were adjusted before.
• Easy Control Process. Smart Assemblies shows the situation with all created assemblies in a
separate convenient dialog. Elements can be filtered and assembled with one click.
31. • Error Prevention. Every assembly is displayed with a separate color that indicates the status. All
assembly updates happen in the real time that allows to avoid mistakes and to control all process of
shop drawings creation easily.
32. CAMERA/VIEW SETTING
• Once you have created a perspective view, you can change the camera field of view.
• In the Properties palette, under Camera, you can change the elevation of these points
Under Extents
• To change the camera position drag the camera to a new location. The far clip plane
always remains the same distance from the camera
• You can also increase or decrease the focal length for the camera. This is how an actual
camera zooms in and out.
• You can also manipulate the field of view in a 3D view
33. • First Perspective 3D view. Next, click Close
Hidden Windows on the Quick Access
Toolbar and then open the Level 2 floor
plan view.
• Keyboard shortcut W, T to tile the open
views. Then Z, A to zoom all the views to
fit. Right-click the Perspective view in the
Project Browser. From the shortcut menu,
choose Show Camera. This is the same as
selecting the crop region in the 3D view as
the ribbon changes to the Modify
Cameras contextual ribbon.
34. • In the Navigation bar, click Full
Navigation Wheel. With the
wheel active, right-click and
choose Increase/Decrease Focal
Length from the shortcut menu.
• Next, open the South elevation
view. Then in the View Control
bar, click Do Not Crop View and
then select Hide Crop Region.
After that, in the Project Browser,
right-click Perspective and
choose Show Camera.
35. RENDERING
• Render the view to create a photorealistic image of the 3D model.
• After preparing the 3D view and using the Rendering dialog to select desired settings, click
Render to render the image.
• Revit begins the rendering process, rendering the entire image progressively. Revit displays
a progress dialog, which shows information about the rendering process.
• Note: To cancel the rendering process before it completes, click Stop.
• When the rendering process is complete, Revit displays the rendered image in the drawing
area.
36. • Adjust the Exposure of Rendered
image
• Exposure Control Setting Reference
• Save the Rendered image as a Project
View
• Export the Rendered image to the File
