CHILD LABOR
(A SOCIALLY ACCEPTED CRIME)
Child labour refers to employment of children at regular and sustained level.
This practice is considered as illegal in many countries. In these practices
children below the age of 15 are force to work by other people.
6
• Child labour is work for children that harms them or exploits them in
some way (i.e. physically, morally, mentally or by blocking access to
education .

INTRODUCTION
Child labour has become a major issue throughout the
world but in the third world countries, like Bangladesh,
it has grown to the maximum level.
According to United Nations International Children
Emergency Funds (UNICEF) there are approximately 158
million children of age 5 to 15 working as child labor
worldwide.
8
9
 Child labour is a socioeconomic problem of Bangladesh
from the beginning and presenting negative effects till
now.
 Today child labor in Bangladesh is the most prominent
issue of all the social issues.
10
Bangladesh is amongst the top ten countries having the
issue of child labour
Children below 5-15 in Bangladesh are above 4.9 million..
There are more than 1.4 million children in Bangladesh who are working
industry.
jobs in every corner of the country.
Fifty percent of these economically active children are in age group of 5 to 9
years.
According to research 4.5 million
children are working in the
agriculture sector.

CAUSES
OF
CHILD
LABOR
15
 poverty is the basic reason and driving force that compels these children to work like
labours and earn a little money at the end of the day. The bad financial condition up-
thrust to the problem of child labour.
 Mostly poor families have more number of children, so it becomes very difficult for
them to survive on the income of only one family member so they make their small
children their source of income .
16
Unemployment Of Elders.
• Due to unemployment its become compulsion of parents to make their children
to work in factories, shops, even selling items on streets.
• There are many cases of child labor where a child has to work against the
repayment of a loan which was taken by his father.
• Another important reason is unemployment which forces the parents to send
their children to work places
17
Excess Population
• In villages there is trend of early marriages and have large number of children. To
fulfill the basic needs they compel their children to do work.
• So they have no other choice but to work and earn a little amount to support their
families
• They consider children as their source of income and they make them to work like
pulling carts, repairing machines, work in factories, selling goods etc. 18
Tradition Of Making Children LearnThe Family Skills
Children are force to follow the foot
prints of their parents.
They are trained from their childhood in
the profession that the family has been
following since ages. So they are unable
to get primary education .
Children are forbidden from doing any
other work. Because of this the
children of labourers, craftsmen etc.
start working with their parents at a
very young age.
19
20
Many developing countries like Pakistan,
India, Bangladesh etc. facing a huge
problem of illiteracy. Lower class people
are mostly illiterate, so it is difficult for
uneducated parents to understand the
importance of education for their children.
Parental Illiteracy
Bangladesh has allocated only 2.3 % of the
budget for education, which is 0.3% than
in 1999
Literacy rate of Bangladesh is :
Male: 68.6%
Female: 40.3%
21
 Another main reason for the
promotion of child labour is due to the
failure of government in practicing the
laws to stop child labour due to which
child labour is increasing day by day .
Failure Of Laws
22
CHILD ABUSE
Physical Abuse
Children are physically abuse about 69% of children are physically
abused and 52% of them are boys
Sexual abuse
According to ILO report 53.22% children specially girls are sexually
abused.
Emotional abuse
Children are emotional abused. According to research in 83% of cases
parents were the abusers
23
EFFECTS OF CHILD LABOUR
There are many bad effects of child labor on our society some of
them are as follow:
Child labour forces some children to steal things from others in order
to satisfy their daily living.
Many small girls are even engaged with prostitution only because of child
labour.
Child Labor deprives a child from the basic right of education.
24
25
Action:
We have many plans for removing child labor in our
home town, country and the world. Firstly we will
go to the child labor. Then ask them in their position.
We will say them it is very bad in a child life. In this
time they need to go to school. We will go to them
parents. We will say them some words. Education is
the backbone of a nation. We are helping them for
education and life
26
PREVENTIVE MEASURES
 Free Education
 Awareness Programs
 Mid Day Meal System In Schools
 Laws Should Be Implemented Strictly
 Punishment Should Be Given To People Who Exploit Children

Budget:
Without budget no project can run. So we need a
budget for removing child labor. Actually we have not
fixed budget. Firstly we are going to collect money
from our friends. Then we will go to other people .
As we said we will create web page and facebook
page also. I think this will help us to go easily to
people to collect money .
31
 As it is a initial project there is no fixed budget yet. How
much money is required will decided in meeting and our
members will provide that money from their pocket money.
This money mainly will be used for conveyance purpose.
 After that if we are able to collect enough money then we will
try to make at least one child from each selected area who can
survive without selling his or her labor.
32
 Actually, we have no personal benefit in this work. We are
human beings. So, we should help another human. Child labor
action is our social work. We need to fight with Child Labor
with the help of other people. The main benefit of this project
is removing child labor for greater development of our
country and country’s people. Besides we want to raise our
talent potentiality by removing child labor.

Child labours are working not by their own choice. They are the victims of their
circumstances and we are taking benefit of their compulsions.
These children are working as a labor in school going age for the survival of
their families and to full fill the basic necessities.
We all should come forward to help them. Government should provide the basic
rights to these children and should also help them in getting education. In this
way our country can get rid of social evil.

  • 16.  poverty is the basic reason and driving force that compels these children to work like labours and earn a little money at the end of the day. The bad financial condition up- thrust to the problem of child labour.  Mostly poor families have more number of children, so it becomes very difficult for them to survive on the income of only one family member so they make their small children their source of income . 16
  • 17. Unemployment Of Elders. • Due to unemployment its become compulsion of parents to make their children to work in factories, shops, even selling items on streets. • There are many cases of child labor where a child has to work against the repayment of a loan which was taken by his father. • Another important reason is unemployment which forces the parents to send their children to work places 17
  • 18. Excess Population • In villages there is trend of early marriages and have large number of children. To fulfill the basic needs they compel their children to do work. • So they have no other choice but to work and earn a little amount to support their families • They consider children as their source of income and they make them to work like pulling carts, repairing machines, work in factories, selling goods etc. 18
  • 19. Tradition Of Making Children LearnThe Family Skills Children are force to follow the foot prints of their parents. They are trained from their childhood in the profession that the family has been following since ages. So they are unable to get primary education . Children are forbidden from doing any other work. • 26. Action: We have many plans for removing child labor in our home town, country and the world. Firstly we will go to the child labor. Then ask them in their position. We will say them it is very bad in a child life. In this time they need to go to school. We will go to them parents. We will say them some words. Education is the backbone of a nation. We are helping them for education and life 26

  • 31. Budget: Without budget no project can run. So we need a budget for removing child labor. Actually we have not fixed budget. Firstly we are going to collect money from our friends. Then we will go to other people . As we said we will create web page and facebook page also. I think this will help us to go easily to people to collect money . 31
  • 32.  As it is a initial project there is no fixed budget yet. How much money is required will decided in meeting and our members will provide that money from their pocket money. This money mainly will be used for conveyance purpose.  After that if we are able to collect enough money then we will try to make at least one child from each selected area who can survive without selling his or her labor. 32
  • 33.  Actually, we have no personal benefit in this work. We are human beings. So, we should help another human. Child labor action is our social work. We need to fight with Child Labor with the help of other people. The main benefit of this project is removing child labor for greater development of our country and country’s people. Besides we want to raise our talent potentiality by removing child labor. 33

  • 35. Child labours are working not by their own choice. They are the victims of their circumstances and we are taking benefit of their compulsions. These children are working as a labor in school going age for the survival of their families and to full fill the basic necessities. We all should come forward to help them. Government should provide the basic rights to these children and should also help them in getting education. In this way our country can get rid of social evil. CONCLUSION 35
