• Reading- This month we will be learning all about super powers in
reading! Some of our super powers include our pointer power,
rereading power, partner power, picture power, snap work power,
and sound power.
• Writing- In writing we will work on writing true stories and using
some of our super powers in reading to read our writing. Make sure
you are reading 20 minutes every night and turning in reading logs
every Monday with ATLEAST 100 minutes!
• Math- Work on counting to 50 and recognizing numbers 1-
15. Also, work on counting 10 objects! We will also work on
2-D shapes and measuring.
• Science/Social Studies- Pilgrims & Indians,
Thanksgiving, Push and Pull

Some Ways You Can Help Your Child at Home
Reading: Read with your child. When they get stuck on a word, tell them to
use their strategies to help them fix it!
Math: Practice counting with your child and give them simple addition and
subtraction story problems to solve.
Writing: Help your child come up with topics they are experts on.
Science/ Social Studies: Watch videos with your child about the sun, moon,
and stars!

8. Third Grade Happenings!
We are Learning…
Reading: We are beginning our Mystery unit!
Continue to encourage reading 100 minutes each
week at home.
Writing: We are beginning our Adapted
Fairytales unit! One way to get involved is by
reading some classic fairy tales with your child .
Math: We are learning addition and subtraction
strategies with 2 and 3-digit numbers. Don’t
forget to keep practicing multiplication facts!
PLTW: We are studying Forces & Interactions
and will be creating our own simple machines!
9. 4th Grade November
Reading- Interpretation Book Clubs- In this unit, we will be determining themes,
growing ideas, and backing everything up with text evidence.
Writing-Literary Essay- We will be continuing to write essays. In this round, we will
be writing about reading. Students will form ideas and opinions based on a text.
Math- Multiplication and Division
Science- We are learning all about soils, rocks and minerals.
Social Studies- We will be learning about the Colonial Period.
10. Math
This month, the students will be
learning about fractions. The students
are adding, subtracting, and
comparing fractions. They are also
working with mixed numbers.
Writing
Students will be drawing on all that
we already know about informational
writing and work towards creating an
article on an area of personal
expertise..
Reading
Students will be investigating Non-
Fiction texts by reading analytically
and applying knowledge about
nonfiction reading to inquiry projects.
Students should be bringing home a
book everyday. Science
Students will have experiences with
mixtures, solutions of different
concentrations, and reactions
forming new substances. They will
also engage in engineering
experiences with separation of
materials.
Social Studies
Students will be studying exploration
in the Western Hemisphere
