PRODUCTION
TV PRODUCTION IS TO PRODUCE A
FINISHED PROGRAM FOR ENTERTAINMENT
OR INFORMATION CONSUMPTION.
IT IS CREATED BY DIFFERENT WORKING
PROFESSIONALS WHO WORK TOGETHER TO
BRING OUT THE MASTERPIECE.
3.
4. PRE PRODUCTION
• Pre-production is a term which refers to the
tasks undertaken before production begins.
• For a small video company, pre-production may
refer to everything that happens before
shooting begins.
• For example, meeting with the client, research,
storyboarding, location planning, etc.
• Making mistakes during this phase of
production can have a damaging effect on a
project.
5. STEPS OF PRE PRODUCTION
1. SCRIPTING:
a)To Write the script
• The first step in successful tv production is
getting ones script ready.
6. b)Create a script breakdown
• At this production stage, one needs to go through
entire script and pick out everything like:
o location,
o character,
o costume,
o sound effect,
o prop, visual effect,
o extras – that's seen or heard in the film.
7. 2. BUDGET AND LEGAL
a) TO FORM A COMPANY
• Every production is basically a business.
• Some people produce the film with an existing
production company.
• Other people create a new corporate identity for
the production.
• Once sorted out the business entity, one can do
all the important stuff:
o open a bank account,
o deposit production funds, and
o start building the production team.
8. b) Make a budget
• It's time to work out how much money one is going
to spend on this thing.
C) Create a production
schedule
• To bring a line producer on board to prepare a
preliminary production schedule.
• To go through your shooting script to figure out how
many scenes you can shoot each day.
9. d) Assemble a crew
• After a rough budget and schedule together, one
needs to put together a film crew.
• For example:
o Director, assistant director, and production manager.
o casting director
o cinematographer
o costume designer
o director of photography
o Editor and so on….
10. 3a. Start creative planning
• The goal of this stage is for the departments to
figure out what they'll need to fulfil the
director's vision.
• They'll meet regularly and tell the line
producer what they need so the budget can be
adjusted.
• This is the time for the line producer or
production manager to ask big questions and
identify any risks.
Like whether the production designer needs
extra time to build a tricky set.
11. 3b. STORYBOARD
• Mapping out each scene in pictures is called
storyboarding.
4. LOGISTICS
1. Revision of the budget and shooting schedule.
2. Booking gears and location scouting.
3. At the end of the pre production stage, one must send out
calling sheets.
• Calling Sheets are a vital production document that contains all
the information you need for your shoot.
