1. RESEARCH INTO HAIR AND
MAKEUP

2. HAIR FOR THE MAIN SINGER
For the main singer, we want to have Bea with
her hair down (her hair is quite wavy and curly,
as you can see above on the test shots we took
last week). However, we want to have her braid
some of her hair, with some gold
beads/hoops/accessories plaited into these
braids. These will add some edge and some
interest into her hair.
Since Bea hasn’t been
around this week, Sophie
tried our hair ideas on
herself, and, personally, I
think it’s turned out quite
successful.

3. HAIR FOR THE RAPPER
For the rapper, the hair is proving to be more difficult, as obviously
none of our group are able to do Khadijah’s hair for her. However, from
the photo we received (for her test shot), we have come to the
conclusion that she can do her own hair. We will give her these photos
for inspiration, as we like the look of beads in a head of fully braided
hair. We will send Khadijah these photos on Snapchat, so she has an
idea of what we want on the day of the shoot.
These are preferred
braiding styles

Rihanna, although I
would have to
consult with
Quadijah about this
due to she would
be the one making
the decision.

4. CLOTHES FOR THE MAIN SINGER
Our first idea for
some of the set ups’
clothes is Bea
wearing all white. For
example, it would be
cool in the doodle set
up for her to wear all
white, as it will make
the doodles really
stand out. She will
almost become part
of the canvas.
Our second idea is for Bea to be wearing a satin/
trouser/ loungewear/ Tom Ford sort of style suit, as
we feel this will engage the audience and it aligns
with the abstract ideas and mood of our video. It
will also make her come across as an artsy and
creative person. We have yet to decide when she
will wear each outfit.

Less is more,
keep it simple
but
sophistacated.

5. CLOTHES FOR MAIN SINGER IN ‘DRY FOR WET’ SET UP
We want Bea to be dressed in a flowy dress within
this set up, as we want to present the idea that
she’s underwater, and with the fan blowing
towards her, it will look really effective.
I have found dresses like
these on ASOS and Zara,
and so will go through
these at some point and
decide which one to buy.
The white flowy dress will
present this ethereal,
other worldly vibe that we
want in this setup.

6. CLOTHES FOR THE RAPPER
For the rapper, they aren’t in the video for a long time, so we
want to make sure that she is able to make a statement in the
time that she’s in shot. We also want to show her as a fairly
assured, confident woman, and so we thought a brightly
coloured suit would present this to an audience well. The
background of the maze also won’t be very bright, and so this
will stand out against the backdrop.

contradicts the lead
singer’s, therefore use
exessive, but not over
the top elements to
signify the
differenation – the
authenticity.

7. MAKEUP FOR THE MAIN SINGER
We would like to do something
like this on Bea, during the ‘dry
for wet’ set up, as we think it
reflects this ethereal, under
water feel that we are trying to
capture. The rhinestones can be
easily stuck on (and can be
bought from amazon). The blue
makeup can be supplied from
one of our group (from
Superdrug).
These would be the types of
makeup looks we would do for
our main singer, Bea, as we think
the coloured eyeliner will work
well with her outfit, as well as
emphasising her eyes to the
viewer, and hence her facial
expressions. I personally feel the
rest of her face should be fairly
natural, as we don’t run the risk
of having to redo the makeup,
due to it sweating off in the
lights.
Sparkly dark coloured (blue or black)
eye shadow – connotes to pop genre
but not too obvious – fun, enegry.
“Smuged” makeup to compliment the
perfectly imperpect look – connotes
to disorientation and constacts with
music
The silver shimmer will
reflect lighting in
different directions and
could use light to alter
makeup effect.

8. MAKEUP FOR THE RAPPER
For the rapper, I think we can possibly do a
more extravagant makeup look, as she will
be under the studio lights for less time,
and so we don’t run the risk of having to
re-do it at any point. As I said before, we
want the rapper to stand out to the viewer
as confident and assured in herself, and so
glittery eyeshadow and lined and glossy
lips will reflect this.
The rapper’s lyrical lines contradicts the lead
singer – discussion – more dramaticlly flared
makeup represents honesty and seperation
between the two.

9. ACCESSORIES FOR THE MAIN SINGER
For Bea, we think it would be effective if she wore
lots of intricate and interesting jewellery as we feel
that this will further this presentation of her to the
audience as a unique and creative person, who
doesn’t mind standing out.
I am sure we will be able to
get all of these pieces from
people in our group, or Bea
herself, as we all wear a lot of
jewellery. If not, we can buy
some from ‘Lovisa’, a cheap
jewellery shop.

10. ACCESSORIES FOR THE RAPPER
The rapper should wear
some form of statement
pieces, whether this is
earrings or necklaces, as this
shows a form of confidence.
As well as this, it will make
the rapper stand out and
pop out in their short time in
shot.
She should wear rings (just like Bea), but they
should also contain a pop of colour, showing
the rapper’s boldness. It also exerts this
90s/2000s type vibe, which works with the
style of the rap within the song.
